Tile Challenge

Each week Joey puts out a challenge for folks to make their representation of her idea. This week is the joey’s weekly tangle challenge #43. So here is what Joey says this week “For this week’s challenge I thought it would be fun to tangle a group of “tiles”

Wouldn’t it be fun to be a professional tile designer and design ceramic kitchen or bathroom tiles for a living? Let’s try it on paper! Choose any tangles that you feel work well together and if you like, colour your tiles. I look forward to seeing your challenges this week!” So this is a little ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art) using a tile.

Zentangle Enticed Me

Zentangle has become popular the last couple of years and I have been intrigued and just starting put my attention to it. I am able to be more in the flow again – whew! I am glad I decided to do Joey’s again. So above are my tile Zentangle Tangle ZIAs. This – of course – went in a very different direction than expected! Thank you to everyone who made comments on my posts these last weeks. That means a lot to me!!

Which Tangle is Which?

To tell you which tangles are which, I am showing you a single tile. Jetties are the green marbles in the bottom left.  Cruffle is the pretty balls on the top left. Trio is the pink and red hearts on the middle – both bottom and top.  Rixty are the strings of blue and green triangles across the center.   SP-Eye-Ryl are the long stems with cute eyes winking on the top – ok, maybe you see spirals with 3 lines from the top of the spirals.  There you have it!! 🙂

I am organizing my studio again to be able to work and now only a table has tons of stuff dumped on it – but the rest is organized!! (My studio always gets filled up when there are projects in the house that need a place to dump a bunch of stuff for awhile!! LOL!!) Thank you for stopping by!! I LOVE comments!! ~ Diane Clancy

Tile: Freckles in Butterflies II – Tuxedo Cat

Smile and Be Happy – Freckles in Butterflies II is a tuxedo kitty sitting in nature surrounded by beautiful butterflies. This black and white tux cat is the centerfold in an outdoor festival of green, indigo, blue, aqua and lavender butterflies with more purple, lime, cyan, yellow, magenta and pink butterflies flying around – they dance and create music that whispers through the field of pink of flowers. A rainbow of butterflies circles Freckles who has mostly black fur, white paws and whiskers and little dab of white on his mouth. You may experience peace, serenity and healing as you look at my work.

Freckles in Butterflies is part of my Fanciful Animal Images series. Freckles has been my beloved animal companion for 18 years. At the animal shelter he came right over and insisted on going home. When I went to the shelter, Freckles came right over and brushed against me – and then he walked away. He did this several times. To me, that said this tiny tux kitty was both independent and loving. And that has turned out to be so true! This image of Freckles is a delightful addition to any family with his elegance and charm – whether next to your computer on a mouse pad, mug, notebook, gift box, puzzle, plate, or a shirt, tote bag, iPad cover, clock, card or on your living room wall.

Through the Hole Ceramic Tile

Fun mandala from my friend’s Zazzle shop – Zandiepants ~ Lots of lovely designs.  This ceramic tile is such lovely shades of violet!

This wonderful mandala has the color purple tones as the main color combined with a pop of bright yellow for visual interest.
The yellow branches are made in a 12 petal flower shape and represent the beauty in life. If you look closely you can see that the branches come growing out of ‘holes’, the thought behind this is that not all that is beautiful in life is clear from the start, sometimes it’s hidden, sometimes it needs time to grow. The purple/lilac/fuchsia details represent all the little things in life, the little things we might not pay attention to, details we take for granted. But when taking a step back, the make a magnificent whole and combined with what we find beautiful in our life, it makes a stunning completion.

Don’t forget about the little things in life as we need them to set off the things we fin gorgeous.
