Now we are at G-H-I. When Carolien and I first started these challenges, we started going through the alphabet in sets of 3.  So I am sharing here what my entry to the first G, H & I looked like.  Hope you enjoy! So do you prefer the original G, H & I or the current one?  🙂

G-H-I Challenge

Each week Carolien and I put out a challenge for folks to make their representation of our idea. This week is the Weekly Challenge #90: Tangle with G-H-I. So here is what we say this week “This week is Challenge #90, the Alphabet challenge of G, H & I. Use tangles starting with the letters G, H & I in your drawing. It’s your choice to only use patterns with these letters or to add some others as well. Happy Tangling!! We look forward to seeing what you come up with for your G, H & I.” Thus this is a little ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art) using tangles that start with the letters G, H & I.

Zentangle Enticed Me

So above is my Challenge ZIA. Do you like it? It has been a ride! I am excited that Carolien and I now realize we can make the thumbnails bigger!!  So sorry we missed a week in the process.  So I have great hope I am back on track!!  There is still one piece of repair work to be done – from the intense winter 2 years ago!!   Oh and now chimney work needs to be done. 🙂

This – of course – went in a very different direction than expected!!!  The first G-H-I was one of the first ZIA’s I made that I am really happy with.  I wanted to be able to create a look as if it were an illustration in a fantastical children’s book.  I still love that first one.  Though I also really like the flower garden look I am currently focused on.  Do you like the line version?  🙂 🙂

Which Tangle is Which?

Hippie Flower is the tall plant on the right. Izland Flower is the vine of flowers across the top.  Geisel is the 3 loopy stems growing from the bottom left.  Loops ‘n Leaves is the delicate vine weaving around the others.   🙂 🙂 There you have it!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

M-C-T Challenge

Zentangle Enticed Me

So above is my Challenge ZIA. Do you like it? It has been a ride! But I have great hope I am back on track!!  There is still one piece of repair work to be done – from the intense winter 2 years ago!! Oh, and the roof has a leak around the skylight.  🙂 This – of course – went in a very different direction than expected!!!

Which Tangle is Which?

Loops ‘n Leaves is the 2 vines dancing across the top.  Morning Glory is the 3 flowers in the middle. C-yeah! is the tall plant on the right. Tuberiz is the vine with trumpets gracefully dangling from it.  PokeLeaf is the heart leaves hanging from the Tuberiz vine.  Flos is the undergrowth.  🙂 🙂 There you have it!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Zentangle Enticed Me

Zentangle has become popular the last several years and so I have been intrigued and putting my attention to it.  So above is my Challenge ZIA. Do you like it? You can see I added more “underbrush” in this little garden after I scanned the line version.   🙂 I am glad Carolien and I are getting back to the Challenges. I have been very sick *again* these last 3 1/2 months. But I got the medication I need – at last – so this last week I have started feeling better.  A set back with worst flu I ever had last week. But I have great hope I am back on track!!  There is still one piece of repair work to be done – from the intense winter 2 years ago!! 🙂 This – of course – went in a very different direction than expected!!!

Which Tangle is Which?

Loops ‘n Leaves is the vine dancing across the top.  Bluebonnets are the 2 plants to the far right.  B’Dylan is the 2 upside down mops or hair brushes. Sekips is the 2 plants that have balls as blossoms. Springkle is the mushrooms playing at the bottom. 🙂 🙂 There you have it!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Zentangle has become popular the last several years and so I have been intrigued and putting my attention to it.  So above is my Challenge ZIA. 🙂 🙂   So what do you think? Do you like it?  I was planning to color it but it seemed to me that this time was one where color would detract.  What do you think? This – of course – went in a very different direction than expected!!!

Which Tangle is Which?

Loops ‘n Leaves is the vine across the top and the vine that is growing like a plant on the far right side.  Vine Thanks is the flowers which have bell-like blossoms.  There are 3 of them in the bottom, mostly middle.  Yomaho is the hearts on the bottom of the 2 larger Vine Thanks.  Yomaho is also the 2 plants of hearts that are growing on the bottom left and middle. 🙂 🙂 There you have it!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Incredibly Exciting New Challenge!!

Anya has created the thirteenth Zentangle challenge in German (don’t worry – she gives an English translation too 🙂 ) Anya has now translated her title into English and has a quick link right under the title to the English.

I hope Anya doesn’t mind that I have quoted her extensively!!! I think this is a fabulous challenge and I want to share enough so you can see this is very doable and will be great fun to join in. To make it VERY clear – below is a very long quote from Anya – these are not my own words at all.

Pattern Mixer Combining Elements
Loops Leef Chainz Challenge

Each month the Anya puts out a challenge for folks to make their representation of her idea. December 2015 is the thirteenth challenge from Anya and Pattern Mixer!! This month is Pattern Mixer Challenge #13. So here is what Anya says this month: “This month I’m not going to give you any patterns. I want you, instead, to pick two of your favorite patterns and mix them. Be sure to really use patterns that you like to draw and know very well..

ATTENTION, please! While all tiles submitted in the last months were stunningly beautiful, there seems to have been some confusion about pattern mixing. Just drawing two patterns next to each other on a tile is called a Duo Tangle (and it can definitely be worth your while), but when we mix patterns, we go one step further. Pattern mixing means to merge two tangles, to intertwine them or even create a new tangle from the combination. I’ve drawn up a few examples for you here. Mixing patterns is not easy and you might even want to collect a few ideas or do a few sketches first. But it’s a real booster to yor creativity and it’s – well, a challenge!”

How do I mix the patterns?

Generally speaking, there are three basic ways of combining patterns and you should choose at least one of them for your tile.

  1. Tangle in a tangle: You draw your first pattern a bit larger than you normally would and fill the empty spaces in your pattern with another tangle. Example

  2. Combining elements: You take elements from one pattern and integrate them into the other tangle, thus creating a new pattern. Example

  3. Merging: You make smooth transitions from one tangle pattern to the next, sort of letting one pattern melt into the next one. Like this.

So this is a little ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art) Combining Elements Loops ‘n Leaves and Leef Chainz done by me.

Combining Elements Challenge

I had to think and think about how to do this. I had a very hard time choosing patterns … which is why it took me so long. And it must be option #2 Combining Elements because it is not Tangle in a Tangle (I don’t think) or Merging!! This was quite fun once I set a direction!! 🙂

Zentangle Enticed Me

Zentangle has become popular the last several years and I have been putting my attention to it. I put my name with a © more prominently to protect my work. Things are about to speed up here on repairs again.  It turns out the cottage needs a new roof too!  I love this challenge – Anya is so very creative!!! So above is my Pattern Mixer Combining Elements Loops Leef Chainz Tangle ZIA. This – of course – went in a very different direction than expected! Thank you to everyone who made comments on my posts these last weeks. That means a lot to me!! I got lost in trying to keep up with posts … so this is late 🙂

Which Tangle is Which?

Leef Chainz is the leaves with stripes on half the leaves.  Also large berries nest in Leef Chainz. Loops ‘n Leaves is curls with plain leaves coming out – all with lots of bubbles.  🙂 🙂 There you have it!! 🙂

Zentangle has become popular the last several years and I have been intrigued and putting my attention to it. I put my name with a © more prominently to protect my work. So above is my L-P-N Challenge ZIA. 🙂 what do you think? Do you like it? I’ve noticed my gardens have been heading toward winter like we are 🙂 (in the northern hemisphere) 🙂 :)  This looks like winter to me … and it seemed to me to want to stay white rather than color :)  🙂 Do you like the shading?  This – of course – went in a very different direction than expected!! Plum Leaf is the big purple plant in the bottom left.  Leef Chainz runs along the bottom.  LukiLine dances across the top.   Loops ‘n Leaves winds around under LukiLine.  Zipclurve is the 2 green plants to the right of Plum Leaf. Zinger is the purple mushrooms springing from Plum Leaf, Leef Chainz and Zipclurve.  🙂 🙂 There you have it!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Suzy says “I will post each Sunday a randomly selected letter that your new pattern has to start with. If you feel adventurous, use more than one new pattern that starts with that letter. … Remember that these need to be patterns you’ve never drawn before. Zentangle Enticed Me

Zentangle has become popular the last several years and I have been intrigued and putting my attention to it. 🙂 🙂 I put my name with a © more prominently since some folks’ zentangles are getting stolen and printed on posters and such. Above is my New to Me I Zentangle Tangle ZIA. The tangle for New to Me I is Insyde Flower. 🙂 This – of course – went in a very different direction than expected!! Thank you to everyone who made comments on my posts these last weeks. I am still swamped with non-Zentangle life and so appreciate those that still comment!! That means a lot to me!! I am catching up 🙂

Which Tangle is Which?

Insyde Flower is the 3 flowers in the middle left of this garden.  Loops ‘n Leaves flows along the bottom.  Izland Flower is the flowers dancing along the top. 🙂 🙂 There you have it!! 🙂

I am organizing my studio again to be able to work and now only a table has tons of stuff dumped on it – but the rest is organized!! (My studio always gets filled up when there are projects in the house that need a place to dump a bunch of stuff for awhile!! LOL!! New to Me Z Challenge

SuzyMosh Creations puts out a challenge for folks to make a representation of “That’s New to Me!” This week is the SuzyMosh Creations – New to Me Z. Suzy says “I will post each Sunday a randomly selected letter that your new pattern has to start with. If you feel adventurous, use more than one new pattern that starts with that letter. … Remember that these need to be patterns you’ve never drawn before. Which Tangle is Which?

Zavatar is the mountains at the bottom.  Loops ‘n Leaves is the vine that is above the Zavatar, drapping from the top left down to the middle right.  Izland Flower is the flowers flowing from the middle top down to the right. Thing in the Middle of a Thing is all those butterflies flying around.   🙂 🙂 There you have it!! 🙂

I enjoy photographing nature partly because I like to look for the hidden patterns and shapes that nature has a way of creating. It is Elaine’s turn to choose. This week is the Tangled Thursday – Time to try Twizted. Heather says “Our challenge is to use the tangle Twizted . That’s it, give it a try and use it somehow.  Thanks Elaine, I haven’t tried this one. To me it looks like braided hair. This tangle looks like one where it will make a difference whether I do it large scale or tiny scale. … Have fun playing with Twizted , create a post, them come back and link up with Mister Linky.” So this is a ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art) using Twizted.
