Letter P Challenge
Occasionally some friends put out a challenge for folks to make their representation of their idea. It is Elaine’s turn to choose the challenge this week. This week is the Tangled Thursday – Letter P. Heather says “The Letter P. That was our challenge by Elaine, tangle the letter P in any way you want. ” So this is a ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art) the Letter P. I have a total of 6 P’s in this tile. I made a big one and then 5 smaller ones and tangled them all.
Zentangle Enticed Me
Zentangle has become popular the last couple of years and I have been intrigued and just starting put my attention to it. Above is my Letter P ZIA. This – of course – went in a very different direction than expected! I am sure you noticed I used shading again … it came naturally even though I did also like it before the shading. 🙂
Which Tangle is Which?
PokeLeaf is the upper left hand tangle – sort of pointed leaves. It is a variation of Poke Root which it to the bottom and right of that PokeLeaf in the same section. Poke Root is a rounded version instead of pointed leaves or flowers.  Sort of in the middle of the bottom is another set of PokeLeaf with Poke Root above them. Poke Root is hanging down in that section. There are 2 PokeLeaf with a black background to the right of the top middle – that is center of a Letter P.
Going back to the top left and moving to the right is Marasu – a sort of snake that is spiraled around. The is the center of the big Letter P. Underneath Marasu is Pepper – sort of looking like life savers. And below them is Bumper – little fingers with some black dots. The Bumper is the center of another Letter P. Then going down, you reach PokeLeaf and Poke Root again.
Back to the top left again. Underneath Poke Root and PokeLeaf is Jetties – it sort of looks like marbles. The other Jetties are near the right center of the tile in the center of another Letter P. Those Jetties leave a lot to desire … it was not the first tangle in there!! 🙂
Going back to the Jetties on the left bottom corner, then go to the right of that. That is Nippa (looking like a stream) and the center of another Letter P. To the right of that is Flora which looks like a net. Then again comes the PokeLeaf and Poke Root. And to the right of them is some more netted Florz. That Florz is the center of another Letter P.
Go to the right side of the tile. That is Piano like Piano keys. That was not how I wanted it … but it had a mind of its own!! Then last but not least – go left from the Piano, past the center of the Letter P and you have a vertical strip of Coaster that sort of looks like a roller coaster or fans. Whew! And there you have it!
I am always a little shocked when I see my ZIA blown up – all these spaces then show up and how shaky the shapes are … but I wanted to get it into this Tangled Thursday challenge. I am still creating these ZIAs lying down while working on an Art Card size (2.5×3.5″). So perhaps not too bad given that.
I have been slowly sharing my other ones on Facebook. I changed to using Art Card size (2.5×3.5″) since I have a bunch cut out already from good quality paper. It might not be as smooth as it should be. But I am learning! And my studio is getting more organized so maybe I can cut some new paper!! I can’t wait to find my black paper and do some cutting!
Thank you for stopping by!! I LOVE comments!!! ~ Diane Clancy
