Beads of Courage: Jetties
Beads of Courage Challenge
Each week the Diva puts out a challenge for folks to make their representation of her idea. This week is the Weekly Challenge #221: “Beads of Courage”. So here is what the Diva says this week “everything i did this week revolved around Beads of Courage.
Beads of Courage is an Arts in Medicine that supports kids with chronic or life threatening illnesses and their families. Â These kids are amazing. Â And they more often than not have to deal with a lot on a daily basis. Â They see a lot of doctors, and on this program instead of getting a sticker or a lollipop for getting a needle or an X-Ray, or a test of some kind, they’d get a glass bead to represent that part of their medical journey.
SO this week’s challenge is to be inspired by Beads of Courage. Â Here’s last year’s challenge if you want to get some ideas. Â You could use beads as inspiration for your string, or for inspiration for your tangles, or perhaps you know someone who is being particularly strong and courageous right now and you may be inspired by them!
Some of the things you can collect beads for are: Needle pokes, overnight stays in hospital, isolation, mobility challenges like bed rest or casting, hair changes, tube insertions or removals, therapies, doctors appointments, surgeries, xrays, ultrasounds, infusions, radiation, oxygen/respiratory support, procedures…” So this is a little ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art) using Beads of Courage.
Zentangle Enticed Me
Zentangle has become popular the last several years and I have been intrigued and am putting my attention to it. I encourage you to go read the Diva’s post – it is quite inspiring and has a fun, creative aspect to it too!! She has a photo of actual Beads of Courage and those beads inspired this tile (Zentangle Inspired Art). It didn’t really turn out how I envisioned … I am not used to the Gelly Roll pens and some showed up on black, some didn’t and some are dual shades and turned out silver. So it was a learning (or maybe a non-learning) process. But I wanted to share the sense of explosion of color and design that is in the real pile of Beads of Courage 🙂 🙂
I am so very inspired by kids I know (including Artoo through his Mom (the Diva) here) who deal with issues that many don’t have to deal with ever. I have tons of my own Beads of Courage but these kids are incredibly inspiring. I am so blessed with family and friends (and good medical care). So even though things are more than a little tricky, Artoo and G have more on their plates. I am so glad for each of them that they have wonderful and loving parents!! Thank you to everyone who made comments on my posts these last weeks. That means a lot to me!! 🙂
Which Tangle is Which?
This is easy!! They are all Jetties - Beads of Courage 🙂 There you have it!! 🙂
Diane & Carolien’s Weekly Zentangle Challenge
My friend Carolien and myself felt the need for having an extra Zentangle Challenge each week. Come join us in the fun!! Details at Diane & Carolien’s Weekly Zentangle Challenge.
My Studio and Thank You!
I am organizing my studio again to be able to work and a table has tons of stuff dumped on it – and more stuff is dumped in there from the holidays!! (My studio always gets filled up when there are projects in the house that need a place to dump a bunch of stuff for awhile!! NOW with all the repair work to come, there will be more dumping!! LOL!!) But even my studio got damaged. I feel so lucky that we can have all this repair work – but more than a little overwhelmed. 🙂 Thank you for stopping by!! I LOVE comments!! Thank you!! ~ Diane Clancy
