SuzyMosh Creations puts out a challenge for folks to make a representation of “Tangle Me 3!” This week is the SuzyMosh Creations – Tangle Me 3 Shattuck. Suzy says “This week our pattern is Shattuck … Your drawing must include the original pattern and two variations on that pattern. Remember, it’s a monotangle challenge—no other patterns can appear in your drawing. ” So this is a ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art) using Shattuck for Tangle Me 3.

Zentangle has become popular the last several years and I have been intrigued and putting my attention to it. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I put my name with a © more prominently since some folks’ zentangles are getting stolen and printed on posters and such. I am organizing my studio again to be able to work and now only a table has tons of stuff dumped on it – but the rest is organized!! (My studio always gets filled up when there are projects in the house that need a place to dump a bunch of stuff for awhile!! LOL!! Who knows what things will be like when the inside repairs start!! Now boxes are all piled up – they are being collected to move things around the house when the workers get to this!! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Thank you for stopping by!! I LOVE comments!! Each week the Diva puts out a challenge for folks to make their representation of her idea. This week is the Weekly Challenge #241: “Guest post “Stones and Ceremony”. So here is what the guest poster, Paula Bramante, says this week “I love Zentangle because it has nothing to do with verbal language. I also love it, paradoxically, because it has given me another language, a visual language, that allows me to communicate feelings and concepts long hidden since childhood. For me, Zentangle is very much like those strange patterns that Helen Keller felt being drawn in her palm by Ann Sullivan. Keller could think, but she had no language to organize her ideas until Sullivan succeeded, most brilliantly, in getting through to her and making her understand that real things in the world were paired with symbols. … My current fascination is with stones and ceremony. … I invite you to trust in your intuition as you move toward your own vision of stones and ceremony with pen in hand and blank tile before you.” So this is a little ZIAs (Zentangle Inspired Art) using Stones and Ceremony.

Zentangle Enticed Me

Zentangle has become popular the last several years and I have been intrigued and putting my attention to it. I put my name with a © more prominently since some folks’ zentangles are getting stolen and printed on posters and such. I am still doing better at and staying in the flow!!! A lot is up in the air πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I had fun with this after I thought of a direction.  :)  Thank you to everyone who made comments on my posts these last weeks. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Each week Carolien and I put out a challenge for folks to make their representation of our idea. This week is the Weekly Challenge #30: Tangle with O, A & C. Incredibly Exciting New Challenge!!

Anya has created the ninth Zentangle challenge in German (don’t worry – she gives an English translation too πŸ™‚ ) Anya has now translated her title into English and has a quick link right under the title to the English.

I hope Anya doesn’t mind that I have quoted her extensively!!! I think this is a fabulous challenge and I want to share enough so you can see this is very doable and will be great fun to join in. To make it VERY clear – below is a very long quote from Anya – these are not my own words at all.

Pattern Mixer Combining Elements
Tropicana Ixorus Challenge

Each month the Anya puts out a challenge for folks to make their representation of her idea. August 2015 is the ninth challenge from Anya and Pattern Mixer!! This month is Pattern Mixer Challenge #9. So here is what Anya says this month: “Summer is finally here! … I picked a pattern for this months Pattern Mixer that just reeks of summer.

ATTENTION, please! While all tiles submitted in the last months were stunningly beautiful, there seems to have been some confusion about pattern mixing. Just drawing two patterns next to each other on a tile is called a Duo Tangle (and it can definitely be worth your while), but when we mix patterns, we go one step further. Pattern mixing means to merge two tangles, to intertwine them or even create a new tangle from the combination. IÒ€ℒve drawn up a few examples for you here. Mixing patterns is not easy and you might even want to collect a few ideas or do a few sketches first. But itÒ€ℒs a real booster to yor creativity and itÒ€ℒs Γ’β‚¬β€œ well, a challenge!”

How do I mix the patterns?

Generally speaking, there are three basic ways of combining patterns and you should choose at least one of them for your tile.

  1. Tangle in a tangle: You draw your first pattern a bit larger than you normally would and fill the empty spaces in your pattern with another tangle. Example

  2. Combining elements: You take elements from one pattern and integrate them into the other tangle, thus creating a new pattern. Example

  3. Merging: You make smooth transitions from one tangle pattern to the next, sort of letting one pattern melt into the next one. Like this.

I had to think and think about how to do this. And it must be option #2 Combining Elements because it is not Tangle in a Tangle (I don’t think) or Merging!! This was quite fun once I set a direction!! πŸ™‚

Anna has created a Pinterest board with all the Pattern Mixer entries included. Here is the Muster Mixer board. Some of the entries blow me away and inspire me so much!!

Tropicana is the arches between double lines. Ixorus is the pads of white on either side of a line with auras around it.  (Zentangle calls halos auras :)  ) There you have it!! πŸ™‚

SuzyMosh Creations puts out a challenge for folks to make a representation of “That’s New to Me!” This week is the SuzyMosh Creations – New to Me P. Suzy says “I will post each Sunday a randomly selected letter that your new pattern has to start with. If you feel adventurous, use more than one new pattern that starts with that letter. … Remember that these need to be patterns you’ve never drawn before. You may use any other patterns that you wish in your drawing. You must use at least one New to Me pattern starting with the letter P. P is a repeat, so we have an an Artist Focus this week on Sayantika Ray! Along with the random letter you’ll chose one pattern by that artist. You must use at least one pattern from Sayantika Ray in your drawing.” So this is a ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art) using New to Me P plus a Sayantika Ray tangle.

So above is my New to Me P and Sayantika Ray Zentangle Tangle ZIA. The tangle New to Me P is Plumes. Sayantika Ray designed Snail πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ This – of course – went in a very different direction than expected!! The roofer/painter is coming back tomorrow – hopefully to finish off his work this week πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Thank you to everyone who made comments on my posts these last weeks!! That means a lot to me!!

I put my name with a © more prominently since some folks’ zentangles are getting stolen and printed on posters and such. Repairs are very slowly moving forward – still!!!! I love this challenge – Anya is so very creative!!! So above is my Pattern Mixer Combining Elements Facade Crescent Moon Tangle ZIA. This – of course – went in a very different direction than expected! Thank you to everyone who made comments on my posts these last weeks. That means a lot to me!!

Which Tangle is Which?

Facade is the lines weaving with circles underneath and Crescent Moon is the circles with auras around them (that is what people call the parallel lines around shapes).  They are quite intertwined. There you have it!! πŸ™‚

Each week Carolien and I put out a challenge for folks to make their representation of our idea. This week is the Weekly Challenge #29: Tangle with U, N & D. So here is what we say this week “This week is Challenge #29, the Alphabet challenge of U-N-D. Use tangles starting with the letters U, N & D in your drawing. ItÒ€ℒs your choice to only use patterns with these letters or to add some others as well. Happy Tangling!! Zentangle has become popular the last several years and I have been intrigued and putting my attention to it. So here is what the Diva says this week “This week’s challenge: Be inspired by the season.  If you live where it’s autumn, like here, find inspiration from the fall colours, the leaves, the crunch of the leaves beneath your feet, maybe the frost on the branches… if you live where it’s spring, maybe you’re inspired by the bright green buds, or the new blossoms.  … Artoo had a very exciting week.  On Friday my special baby became an official Big Boy – and turned Five years old!” So these are little ZIAs (Zentangle Inspired Art) using Birthday Leaves.
