The Polka Dot Tangle Challenge
Each week Joey puts out a challenge for folks to make their representation of her idea. This week is the joey’s weekly tangle challenge #48. So here is what Joey says this week “I think we’ve fully explored heart patterns now so today I thought we would switch to polka dots! It kinda sounds like a dance, The polka dot tangle!
~ To start I want you draw some circles either in an ordered pattern or just randomly all over the page.
~ Do not let them overlap.
~ Then fill each polka dot with a different tangle of your choice.
~ No two alike.”
So this is a little ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art) using doing the Polka Dot Tangle!!
Zentangle Enticed Me
Zentangle has become popular the last couple of years and I have been intrigued and just starting put my attention to it. The last week and a half has been tough – losing heat, -17F degree weather, twice with different frozen pipes, a bat in the house, our car hit at a friend’s house, the overhang pulling away from the house, the bathtub leak supposedly turning off the heat and numerous leaks! But we are so lucky to have a place to be and food to eat!! So above is my The Polka Dot Tangle Zentangle Tangle ZIAs. This – of course – went in a very different direction than expected! Thank you to everyone who made comments on my posts these last weeks. That means a lot to me!!
Which Tangle is Which?
First are all the empty circles. Sanibelle is the shell looking tangle in the circle nearest to the top left corner. Btl Joos is the striped snake in the top right circle. Bark is the tangle in the top middle circle. A variation of Bark is in the circle closest to the bottom left. Snaylz Trayl is the tangle in the bottom right circle. Blooming Butter is the tangle in below Btl Joos, that is, the circle one down from the top right. CLE is the tangle in the middle left circle. Hmmmm forgot about no duplicates but a 5 armed rather than 6 armed CLE is the tangle in the middle bottom circle. Summer Sitter is the pretty tangle in the very middle circle. It didn’t look quite right to me so I decided to put Nipa in – the water or river that starts at the top right and goes down and to the left. I was going to fill in the whole background but realize that it gave it a lot of movement with just this part done – so I decided that was how Nipa should be. There you have it!! 🙂
I am organizing my studio again to be able to work and now only a table has tons of stuff dumped on it – but the rest is organized!! (My studio always gets filled up when there are projects in the house that need a place to dump a bunch of stuff for awhile!! LOL!!) Thank you for stopping by!! I LOVE comments!! Thank you!! ~ Diane Clancy
