Stripes Challenge
Each week the Diva puts out a challenge for folks to make their representation of her idea. This week is the Weekly Challenge #179: “Stripes”. So here is what the Diva says this week “This is not the first time we’ve done this stripes challenge – but there something nice about revisiting a challenge. So this week, try out some stripes in your challenge piece. Â Vertical, horizontal, diagonal, crossways, whatever you like!” So this is a little ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art) by Stripes!
Zentangle Enticed Me
Zentangle has become popular the last couple of years and I have been intrigued and just starting put my attention to it. I am putting one foot in front of the other at times still! So above is my Stripes Zentangle Tangle ZIA. This – of course – went in a very different direction than expected! Did you notice I did some shading … it just flowed out for the first time 🙂
Which Tangle is Which?
Nipa is the tangle on the top left that looks like bubbles on a river. Dinesawr is right below it – it sure looks like dinosaur, snake or lizard skin. Arundel is new to me. I never saw it before or tried it – I like it quite a bit!! Arundel is the big bubbles across the middle. The bottom right is Chartz with the bubbles in the triangles.. I am lucky I got this done at all … since last Saturday was my marriage, I am way too busy trying to catch up on the delayed things!!!
I am always a little shocked when I see my ZIA blown up – but this isn’t so bad this time … but I wanted to get it into the Diva’s challenge. I am still creating these ZIAs lying down while working on an Art Card size (2.5×3.5″). So perhaps not too bad given that. I have been slowly sharing my other ones on Facebook. I changed to using Art Card size (2.5×3.5″) since I have a bunch cut out already from good quality paper. It might not be as smooth as it should be. But I am learning!
And my studio is getting more organized so maybe I can cut some new paper!! I can’t wait to find my black paper and do some cutting! One thing after enough keeps getting in the way of that. But stuff has started to clear out of my studio again so maybe there is hope!! (My studio always gets filled up when there are projects in the house that need a place to dump a bunch of stuff for awhile!! LOL!!) Thank you for stopping by!! I LOVE comments!! ~ Diane Clancy

I like this tile, like the tangles and the shading.
Thank you so very much, Annemarie!!!
Oh and, Annemarie, I am glad you like the shading!!
Hi Diane, your tile is beautiful! The shading really added to it.
I hope you are doing well, and feeling good.
Hi Marta … thank you for saying my tile is beautiful – the shading just poured out of me this time!!
Nice work, Diane. I also think the shading is quite nice. Do go back and read my comment to you on my blog where I addressed your current activities LOL!
Thank you so much, Jean!!! 🙂
Hi Diane – I’ve been watching your process as you’ve been playing with Zentagle designs. It’s been very interesting, as you have gradually worked out how you want to organize your shapes and lines. In this design I think you’ve succeeded nicely in creating something that is lovely to look at and well balanced in shading and color. Thanks so much for sharing your process with us and I look forward to seeing more.
