Zeta Challenge
Occasionally some friends put out a challenge for folks to make their representation of their idea. This week is the Tangled Thursday – Bring on Zeta. So Tami says “Â so here is my challenge … Use tangle pattern ‘Zeta” in a drawing.” So this is a ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art) using Zeta!
Zentangle Enticed Me
Zentangle has become popular the last couple of years and I have been intrigued and just starting put my attention to it. I love the name Zeta and the idea is pretty … little harder to use in a tile and I did want to try some one that are new to me – so above is my Zeta Zentangle Tangle ZIA. This – of course – went in a very different direction than expected!
Using Zeta
I decided to put Zeta diagonally across the tile (another name for the canvas one uses in Zentangle). I had the link open showing how to create Zeta all week and still didn’t quite understand it. Today I knew I had to buckle down to business so eventually I understood (more or less) how it is put together. So I just started with Zeta across and then looked and looked until I could see what to do next. Just how it happened!
Which Tangle is Which?
Zeta is the tangle across the center that almost looks like playing cards to me. Below Zeta is Cogwheel. There are no steps to show how to do it and it took a couple of tries but it is ok, mostly pretty good. It is the one that looks like rings on a tree that has been cut. I decided that Zeta would “rest” on Cogwheel so I filled up the bottom. Zander is the one that looks like bound wheat. Again there are no steps for that one and I think I did a good job. Florz is the net on the top. And there you have it!
I am always a little shocked when I see my ZIA blown up – all these spaces then show up (but it actually wasn’t too bad this week) … but I wanted to get it into this Tangled Thursday challenge. I am still creating these ZIAs lying down while working on an Art Card size (2.5×3.5″). Also, my eyes have been spinning some on working on these small tiles. So perhaps not too bad given that.
I have been slowly sharing my other ones on Facebook. I changed to using Art Card size (2.5×3.5″) since I have a bunch cut out already from good quality paper. It might not be as smooth as it should be. But I am learning! And my studio is getting more organized so maybe I can cut some new paper!! I can’t wait to find my black paper and do some cutting!
Thank you for stopping by!! I LOVE comments!!! ~ Diane Clancy
