String 109 Challenge
Occasionally some friends put out a challenge for folks to make their representation of their idea. This week is the Tangled Thursday – String 109. So here is what Heather says “Elaine has challenged us with string 109 for next Thursday.” So this is a ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art) using String 71!
Zentangle Enticed Me
Zentangle has become popular the last couple of years and I have been intrigued and just starting put my attention to it. I wanted to try some tangles that are new to me to practice so above is my String 109 Zentangle Tangle ZIA. This – of course – went in a very different direction than expected!
Using String 109
Almost all the tangles on this one are new to me – so the first time I have tried them. Pepper is the only one I have used before and I have never used it to fill a space like I did on this. I am always looking to figure out new (to me) tangles so I wanted to practice some. Part looks sort of dense – very unplanned. I would just plan the next tangle I was going to use in this process. Just how it happened!
Which Tangle is Which?
Enyshou is the upside down mop or plant in the upper right corner … so that filled up that whole section. To the left of Enyshou is Neckton (in that smallish space). The top left is sweet little Fescu waving little fronds. Underneath that is the series of what stones, surrounded by little stones, surrounded by an aura – that is Quipple. I used that as part of a line of String 109.
The center is a web. That is the first time I tried Patena and I would not say it is an unqualified success – but I learned a lot – about what to not do!!  To the left of Patena (the left middle side), that is Festune. I think that pretty much came out ok. In the middle near the bottom is Nipa – the river with the rocks – I think that came out fairly well!! The right bottom is Pepper – but stretched out to fill the whole space (since I saw that on something else). The bottom string is Centipede … kind of a funny one but good to know. I am always a little shocked when I see my ZIA blown up – all these spaces then show up … but I wanted to get it into this Tangled Thursday challenge.
I am still creating these ZIAs lying down while working on an Art Card size (2.5×3.5″). So perhaps not too bad given that.
I have been slowly sharing my other ones on Facebook. I changed to using Art Card size (2.5×3.5″) since I have a bunch cut out already from good quality paper. It might not be as smooth as it should be. But I am learning! And my studio is getting more organized so maybe I can cut some new paper!! I can’t wait to find my black paper and do some cutting! Thank you!! ~ Diane Clancy

Well done Diane. i haven’t tried all those tangles but must consider pepper and centripede. I can see good potential for them.
Thanks for linking up with Tangled Thursday.
