My Camelia Challenge Entry
Camelia Day Challenge
Each week the Diva puts out a challenge for folks to make their representation of her idea. This week is the Weekly Challenge #165: “UMT – Camelia“. So here is what the Diva says this week “is a UMT Challenge (Use My Tangle), where the challenge is to learn and use a tangle created by one of you! This week’s Tangle (Camelia) is brought to us by the Anne Marks.” So this is a ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art) using Camelia!
Zentangle Enticed Me
Zentangle has become popular the last couple of years and I have been intrigued and just starting put my attention to it. I wanted to try some tangles that are new to me to practice so here is my Camelia ZIA. This – of course – went in a very different direction than expected! A day at the beach discovered this little snail who happened across my canvas.
Which Tangle is Which?
Camelia is the body of the snail. Definitely shaky – but I got better as I went along! At first I really hated it because it is rigid and I am not as good at exactness. But it got more comfortable. And of course I made it harder by not drawing a rigid sets of lines to draw it by – but flowing ones instead. The little snail sticking out to the right is Showgirl – the swirling around of petals. The Indy-Rella is the whirls in the sand that are to the left and bottom. They just sort of turned out that way. (I was practicing tangles that are new to me). I will probably add color but I don’t know when – so I wanted to have this be ready for the Diva’s challenge!
I have been slowly sharing my other ones on Facebook. I changed to using Art Card size (2.5×3.5″) since I have a bunch cut out already from good quality paper. It might not be as smooth as it should be. But I am learning! And my studio is getting more organized so maybe I can cut some new paper!! I can’t wait to find my black paper and do some cutting!

Your Camelia is very well done. Bold and complimented by your surrounding tangles. Camilia is such a versatile tangle and I’m sure we will all have fun playing and exploring its possibilities.
Really original take, Diane. Enjoy it all! Axxx
Thank you so very much, Jean and Annie!! ~ Diane
