Quandary Challenge

Each week the Diva puts out a challenge for folks to make their representation of her idea. This week is the Weekly Challenge #161: “String Theory – Initial String“. So here is what the Diva says “This week’s challenge is a simple one, one i come back to again and again when i find myself stumped with a string. So this week use your initials as your string.” So this is a ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art) working with your initials as a basis for your art.  This is quite common but I haven’t tried it yet – so it will be a first for me!

Zentangle Enticed Me

Zentangle has become popular the last couple of years and I have been intrigued and just starting put my attention to it. I wanted to try some tangles that are new to me to practice so here is my Initials ZIA.

String Theory – Initial String

I made my initials in script – sort of script – the C is printed really and dug in.  I wanted to try some new tangles I am learning and just kept figuring out which was next and stumbling along.  Clearly my hands are very shaky today.  So I did this lying down and being shaky.  This is what I could do!

Which Tangle is Which?

Kloonz is the edging on the left.  Binial is the edging at the top.  Girlande is the right side edging.  Inapod is the bottom edging – sure does look like peas in a pod!  The “body” of the D is Dentri.  The loop of the D is Gust.  The C itself is H2O Lily.  The whoosh of the D is Zoose.  The little flowers to the right and left of the C is Springkle.

I have been slowly sharing my other ones on Facebook. I changed to using Art Card size (2.5×3.5″) since I have a bunch cut out already from good quality paper. It might not be as smooth as it should be. But I am learning! And my studio is getting more organized so maybe I can cut some new paper!! I can’t wait to find my black paper and do some cutting!
