Quandary Zentangle Challenge Entry
Quandary Challenge
Each week the Diva puts out a challenge for folks to make their representation of her idea. This week is the Weekly Challenge #161: “In a Quandary about Quandary“. So here is what the Diva says “There’s a lot of discussion among CZTs on the best way to do this tangle… This week’s challenge is a practice challenge – to find the way that works for you. Â For ME i concentrate on one seed then building a triangle off it.” So this is a ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art) created trying to learn Quandary – with the emphasis on *trying*!!!
Zentangle Enticed Me
Zentangle has become popular the last couple of years and I have been intrigued and just starting put my attention to it. I wanted to try some tangles that are new to me to practice so here is my Quandary ZIA.
Quandary about Quandary
In this challenge I was supposed to figure out which is the best way for me to create the tangle Quandary. At the moment I feel very defeated by Quandary. I tried the method suggested by the Diva (that was the green blue pieces of rice in the middle.) It worked for a bit and quickly fell apart – ie. I messed it up. The lime rice on the left was my attempt to follow the traditional directions – neither way worked well for me. Maybe I will try this again and try another way – make a star and see if I can work off that. Oh well – I stayed true to the name – I am in a Quandary!
Which Tangle is Which?
As said above, the pieces of green rice in the middle and to the left are Quandary – this is new to me. Dentri is the sweep of triangles above and below the blue green rice – this is the 2nd time I have tried this. I am starting to get it but I need another try again. Binial is the 2 lines with purple circles and swirls on them. Also the bigger circle on the upper right is a piece of Binial. I am getting better at is but still need more practice. The 2 lines of silly little creatures with wispy hats are Zoose. Still learning that one too. In general I am doing this lying down because of my health. I know things are far from precise, but it is what I can so right now!
I have been slowly sharing my other ones on Facebook. I changed to using Art Card size (2.5×3.5″) since I have a bunch cut out already from good quality paper. It might not be as smooth as it should be. But I am learning! And my studio is getting more organized so maybe I can cut some new paper!! I can’t wait to find my black paper and do some cutting!

Your Quandary is still quite nice even if a few pieces decided to wander. I think that might be part of the charm of doing it without a grid. I used a grid and it didn’t wander; however, I think yours has more flow to it.
I don’t use a grid and I wander! You’ve used some very pretty colours and there is a nice flow here. Axxx
Cadent is very well chosen next to Quandary.
So lovely colours!
