Illustration Friday – Hoard
Illustration Friday has a challenge every week. This week is Hoard. Not surprisingly this week’s Hoard is in green – green for envy since hoarding can trigger envy. Is this a Garden of Eden or a Garden of Envy? Are they working together or against each other? Illustration Friday is a great way to showcase your work and a wonderful opportunity to meet lots of wonderful people! I encourage you to check it out! Lots of fun people and paintings!

Hoard
Has such a nasty connotation.
We are all taught to share
Not hoard.
Yet, what is the difference
Between hoard and protect?
Surely there is a gigantic difference!
Hoard, share, protect -Â
Three points along the continuum
Sometimes when someone isÂ
Protecting their bodies, art, wealth, children
Others think they hoard.
Is this bubble protecting her children
Or not sharing her wealth?
Once sometime told me she could help me
Learn to give all my art away for free
And NEVER make a pennyÂ
(Or cover costs)
She felt to get paid for art was to hoard it.
I want to get paid for my work
How else am I to care for myself?
And many do hoard -Â
Who needs a billion dollars a year?
Or 1,000 pairs of shoes?Â
Hoarding can triggerÂ
Envy in others –
As some have way too much and
Some have WAY too little!!
That is not the way to go!!
But then others work hard and
They should get to use their rewards
While others laze away.
We also all make choices.
Or those poor souls who hoardÂ
Old newspapers and recycling in their homes
And can only walk through paths
Hoarding can be so painful!Â
Sharing can be so great!!
When it is appreciated … or when you want to!
But also remember Chicken Little
No one wants to helpÂ
But they want to share in the proceeds.
Balance, yet again
Balance among Hoard,
Protect and Share
We each make our own decisions and balance.

The tree is so beautiful. I think everything is best in balance. Nicely said!
