Illustration Friday – Pet Peeves
Illustration Friday has a challenge every week. This week is Pet Peeves. My pet peeve is people who take up all the room and think others are inconsequential or invisible. I am not talking about large or heavy people!! Not at all! I am talking about those who take over and dominate others and leave no room for the rest of us. Notice the whole place takes on the coloration from the dominant person – we are just invisible!! Illustration Friday is a great way to showcase your work and a wonderful opportunity to meet lots of wonderful people! I encourage you to check it out! Lots of fun people and paintings!

Pet Peeves
So many, do you have time?
People late, or early
Chewing gum or tobacco
Smoking or smelling smoke
People who dislike smokers
Nose rings or those that don’t like them
Or tattoos
Such a variety for us
All to choose!
Mine …
People who dominate
Walk all over others
Think they have
A corner on the truth –
Know more than the rest of us
(All put together)
Power over, not power with
No room for other’s
Thoughts or feelings
The rest of us are only
Reflections of their reality
We don’t really exist
Then, I need to remember
To take back my own
Sense of Self
And, know,
Just a hot air bubble
No real power
Insecure, frightened, fearful
Power is in me
Love and compassion is
My real power and strength
Kindness is true strength.

Your poem speaks the heart’s truth.
Keep on creating and writing, my dear!
Diane, I love this post and the wonderful way you illustrated your pet peeve with this bubblescape. I like your poem very much, especially the last four lines.
