Can this be a Circus?
Now can this be a circus? Is this fun? I love the swirls and circles … the way the colors – especially the yellows and blues – play off each other keeps my attention. And those different shades of blue swirls engage me.

Sue, I tried to not make any eyes that might feel scary … but only you know for sure whether I was successful. What do you (everyone) think … feel?

This is indeed a very fun piece – I enjoyed thinking of it as a circus, but was more partial to seeing umbrellas twirling in the street below an old city window. Then you mentionned the eyes, and yep, I see them – peering curiously out at me! Very nice
Oh Rima,
I like that – umbrellas … at one point when I was creating this, that idea crossed my mind … but flew out the other side … thank you for brining it back in!
But I didn’t think of the umbrellas twirling in the street below – I like it!!

Hi Diane,
Please yourself first with the creation of your art. I remember the first time someone mentioned they felt disturbed by some of my work. I talked to my art instructor about this, and he reminded me that evoking strong feelings one way or the other was an indication of the power of the work. Hey, I know you know this anyway. 🙂
I like Rima’s POV about looking at this piece as if from up above. I looked at it a few times before responding; I not only see laughter but the face of a tiger. Go figure.
I like this quote from Pollack:”When you are working out of your unconscious, figures are bound to appear.”

My experience with ‘Can This be a Circus?’ is musical, humorous, fun, funny and laughter. It’s a lovely creation, Diane.

Thank you everyone,
I may change the name to something about umbrellas … don’t quite have it yet – but I love the image of “seeing umbrellas twirling in the street below an old city window.”
so fun to see you all here!

This is a fantastic article. You obviously know what your subject matter! I studied it with great interest and look forward to the next updates.
This is not a circus but I enjoyed thinking of it as a circus. I see them peering curiously out at me!
