Reflections in Blue I
I love the aqua color in this pastel painting. Especially the light, bright aqua arches behind the figures. They always look like angels to me. Many people have wanted to buy this particular painting. “Reflections in Blue I” is what started me thinking about licensing my art work.

I figure that if so many people feel that this image is uplifting, then I want lots of folks to be able to be inspired. Right now I make this image available in cards and prints that I sell to stores and to individuals.
Licensing is allowing someone else to use one’s images for a particular purpose. I have licensed some of my images for music CD’s, yoga CD’s and publicity. People have paid me a reasonable flat fee for using my images.
I want to find a business that would want to produce cards, calendars, mugs or such with this painting. Then I would receive royalties for their usage. The amount I receive would depend on how much of their product sells.
In the research I have done about licensing, companies tend to want a related series of 4 images. This is the first of this set of 4 “Reflections in Blue.” I am in the process of researching which licensing companies would be the best matches for this particular painting. I hope YOU are inspired!

The colors in this pastel are calming and soothing. The imagery speaks to me of reverant reception, being in a state of allowing, a sort of darkness before the dawn thing with somber indigo shadows and uplifting turquoise light.
Licensing is something that interests me as well. I hope you find something that suits your needs perfectly!

Sue – Have you taken any steps in licensing? So far, I have been organizing my work, (finishing a couple of images) and researching different companies to find the right match.

Diane – right now my next step is getting my website up and I am stuck! Remember, I am relatively new to all of this. I need an assistant, or a clone who knows more about Dreamweaver 8 than I do. Licensing is on my list, but down a ways.
Thank you for your very kind comment on my blog. I think I must have blushed as pink as my mandala.
