This is one of the first times I have used a PayPal so that someone can buy something!! It was a little challenging to get through … every though it was simple … but now I more or less know how. I know you are probably expecting a tutorial sometime … probably so!  But I have to relearn this because I copied and pasted it from earlier.

To thank you for your interest and participation in the give-away of these cards, I am giving you a sale price of $12.99 which includes shipping and handling for these 6 cards. If you would like to purchase this pack of 6 cards (4.25 x 6), please use this PayPal button. PayPal accepts lots of credit cards - you do not have to have a PayPal account to purchase. Anyone can buy - you didn’t have to participate - you just got lucky!! ~ Thank you!!

Rowe Fair

Monday, July 14th, 2008

Can you believe it?  You can see me again … Twice in a week and a half - can you stand it? Saturday we went up to Rowe MA to do a fair.  One of our friends was coordinating it and loves our work so she invited us to come up to the annual Old Home Days.  We had lots of looking but only a few buys - even though we dragged half our house up there! The economy is taking its toll big time on the buyers at these kind of fairs.

It was great that we went though - for a couple of reasons. One - it has been a long time since I just sat somewhere and didn’t do a lot all day (I know - you keep telling me to rest!) It felt like we had been at the beach all day.  Also, Susan now gets why I want to focus a lot on online marketing and she has gotten on board.  This will make marketing life much better!!

More pictures may be coming later.  I would LOVE to hear how you are!! Thanks for stopping by!

Vote to Help a Friend Get to College

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Angela Taylor, a fabulous artist and member of WWAO wrote to our group today:

All of us create our marks in different ways. My dream is to go to college to make that mark. I got accepted into the Savannah College of Art and Design!!! As many of you know though, I am epileptic and paying for college, even for regular students is hard enough so I am asking for your help. I have made a page on Brickfish where you can vote on my entries to help me get a scholarship. The person with the most entries gets one. Although, there is no guarantee, at least it’s a shot. Please vote for my entries to help me get a scholarship. You can vote as many times as you like. To vote just click the picture that you would like to vote on, then look on the lower left side and there will be a button to click saying VOTE. Confirm your vote and bingo!

Painting With Passion
Original Art by Angela Taylor

My interest in painting began after meeting a local artist and friend. She helped me learn about painting and inspired me to become an artist. Since then, painting has become my voice. It has become my way of coping with the hard situations that I face from having seizures.I started having seizures at 12yrs for unknown reasons.

I had about 7 seizures a day 100 a day at the most. After having brain surgery in June,2003, I only have them at night. I did wake up from brain surgery with my left side paralyzed but it was NOT permanent. Physical Therapy helped ALOT! I can not go without medications or they will start again. I started painting as Therapy after I healed from surgery. I hope that painting will help others to prosue their dreams of painting as I have been inspired to prosue mine.

My work is basically abstract in style because I choose to work with color and a more intuitive approach to painting. While looking at each painting you may wonder what I was thinking while painting. I assure you that every painting has a meaning. The ability to paint my emotions is what I find so therapeutic about art.

She is a very inspiring woman and artist. Now! Go visit her Etsy shop and fabulous artworks to help support her College Dream and acquire a fabulous piece of art!

Second Teasury - in the Main Treasury!!

Monday, March 31st, 2008

This morning at about 5 am the main treasury opened up - so I grabbed one of those treasuries too. It has some overlap from the other treasury I made, but I really wanted to feature some of the other painters I had chosen. Since you have to be there just as it opens up .. it is very exciting .. you have to put the name in fast enough and everything. So here it is … I hope you like it!! If you are an Etsy member, I hope you will click and comment and help me stay near the top. Thanks to all the wonderful groups I am involved with, I on page 3 out of 22 the 333 treasuries within several hours. It is harder to get to the top of this treasury. I want to showcase painters more …

Dance of Dreams Treasury

(Another) Dance of Dreams Treasury, Etsy

This lasts for only 2 days - it is the luck of the draw whether it is 2 or 3 days. t this point I am at the top of Treasury West with yesterday’s treasury - the hottest of the  222 treasuries!! When I do another treasury, I probably will not post it here .. don’t worry, we will go back to bubbles .. I just want to share this excitement with you!! Thank you for reading about this!!! Thank you for being part of my community!!

Etsy has a very cool thing called a Treasury - someone puts together 12 items of people’s work with some common theme. This theme is Dance of Dreams. I am so so excited because this treasury is my very, very first one I ever made!!! Here is this Treasury!! Dancing up and down with joy!!! My shop is Diane Clancy with lots of bubblescapes and Fanciful Animal Images.

I have mentioned the VAST group (Visual Artists Street Team) that I belong to at Etsy. Here is the VAST Blog if you would like to know more. We also help each other market-our art work - we are an online, international group that is creative, loves art, creates original art and has an Etsy Shop.

I also belong to BBEST - Boomers and Beyond Etsy Street Team. This is a very active group who work hard at marketing and being visible. Here is the BBEST Blog … The Boomers are 40 and over … lots of fun!

The Interior Design Team at Etsy is another team I belong to. This is a group who work to make your home and office look beautiful with lovely items!! Here is the Interior Design Etsy Team. My Very First Treasury!!!

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

I am so so excited!! You have seen some of the treasuries I have been in … today I took the plunge and made one myself. I spent over 3 hours choosing the images to go in it .. and read and reread the directions to do it correctly. Also, you have to be there just as it opens up .. so it is very exciting .. you have to put the name in fast enough and everything. So here it is … I hope you like it!! If you are an Etsy member, I hope you will click and comment and help me stay near the top. Thanks to all the wonderful groups I am involved with, I went to near the top of the 222 treasuries within a couple of hours.

I had chosen more than you can put in … I got confused and all … so I have another lot of gorgeous paintings that I can use for another one. This lasts for 3 days. You can have only one at a time, but there is another treasury too … so I hope and can get that one. But that one will open up at about 3 am … so I don’t know. Thank you for reading about this!!!

Etsy has a very cool thing called a Treasury - someone puts together 12 items of people’s work with some common theme. This theme is Simply Red in honor of Valentine’s Day (do you perceive a common thread here?) I am so so excited because I am in this Treasury!! Dancing up and down with joy!!! I bet regular readers of this blog will identify my piece without reading my name.

Handing Out Awards

Sunday, October 21st, 2007

Neda created some awards recently in response to the Blog Action Day. She gave them to me for some of my work. Neda suggested we pass them along also. Most of you I visit regularly also got theses awards so I am going to introduce you to some new blogs.

Artist for Peace

Artist for Peace © Neda Doany

Tom Weiner has started a blog relatively recently and he has been quite busy!! His blog is called Vietnam War Draft Stories. He has been writing a book “Called To Serve: Stories of Men and Women Affected by the Vietnam Draft.” He wants to help heal the pain still going on from that war and build bridges. I find that both of these awards are perfect for him as a writer. you may notice that Tom’s blog is laid out a little differently than usual. His front page is static - he is still wanting stories. Some of the stories are on pages - accessed from the sidebar. And also his new posts are also accessed from the sidebar.

Global Artist

Global Artist © Neda Doany

The other people who have started blogging haven’t done many posts yet. They have let periods of time stretch without posting. But I know them personally and know that all three are working for peace and harmony. I am giving them this reward for the work that they do as artists for peace rather than as bloggers for peace. And I do hope that this award will encourage them to blog more regularly!

Pam Roberts has a blog Spirit of the Written Word and she works with the healing power of words for healing health issues and our feelings around these issues. “The Healing Power of Writing” is her caption. This is why I feels she deserves this award.

Ellen Blanchette has a blog called Arts & Politics. Ellen is a photographer and also a writer, among other artistic things. She started her blog particularly to discuss art and also politics … which is why I am giving her this award. I know the general drift of her politics and I know she is for peace and for protecting the environment.

Karl Meyer has a blog called Karl Meyer Writing and he also writes many articles for newspapers, books and such. Trust me, he is very active for global peace, the environment and rights! He hasn’t written that much political in his blog yet, but wait until he gets going!

A Windy Day-ACEO

A Windy Day-ACEO © Diane Clancy

I want you to have a chance to know about these other blogs and also to encourage these new bloggers that it is worth writing … people do read.

By the way, I would encourage someone who has one of Frances‘ awards, to give the teaching award to Neda. She has had some many posts with hints about how she collages, I think it would be great to give her that award! Frances’ awards are very beautiful and I hope they get passed along!! They deserve to!

I would love to hear about you too!!

Blog Action Day Wrap-Up

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

Blog Action Day has a great wrap-up. Over 2o,6oo blogs participated with over 14,000,000 (yes, 14 millions) RSS readers - which translates into many more readers than that. I know from looking at my own stats, there are far more readers and visitors than the recorded rss feeds. Apparently the number of posts about the environment went through the roof on Oct 15. So ya!! for all of us … and the earth!

Neda created some beautiful awards for those of us who took part on the gallery exhibit at Maraya Galleries. You can see mine at the bottom of the sidebar. Thank you, Neda and they are great! I can also give them away - so let me know if you see a blog I should look at - thank you.

Grant Application Revisted

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

Some of you have asked me to elaborate on the grant application I have been writing - so I am! We have been having AWE - Artists Window Exhibits - in our town lately. We have had shows in July, August and again in mid-Sept - mid-Oct (yes, now). I have put in a grant application requesting some money to coordinate this project in 2008. It is in the mail!!!

Rooney's Joe II

Joe Landry at Rooney’s, AWE, Photography © Susan Elkin

Some of us visual artists started meeting over a year ago to connect, build the local economy, and in general figure out how to further our careers as artists. We have a fantastic area full of artists … we are rural and there is a economy rich in agriculture and not money. That is, we are one of the lowest income areas of the whole state (Massachusetts, US). So we need to build the creative economy here.

When tourists come here, they can’t believe how inexpensive the art is. But many local people say the prices are way too high. So we are working to get this area to be a tourism destination to hook up art lovers and artists. By we, I mean much more than our small group of artists. It is a big initiative that is getting support from our whole county. I think we are the size of Rhode Island but with only 70,000 people. And 69,000 are artists - no, that part is a joke. But we do have thousands of artists here.

I have been coordinating this group, chairing, taking minutes, writing them up and sending them out (by email), being the point person and generally coordinating whatever we were doing. I have put tons of energy into having the AWE projects go smoothly.

The local business organization (Greenfield Business Association) has set up 2 Progressive Dinners where people have gone from restaurant to restaurant for each of 6 or 7 courses. Our artists group, Artists of Franklin County, has provided beauty and enjoyment through our work in shop windows. And I am sure you can imagine that there is a lot of work involved in coordinating all this! Which is why I would like to get some financial compensation for a little bit of the time and materials.

You asked what it would mean … that I would be able to more easily be able to take the time to up the quality and attend to the details of this project. What are you up to?

Grant Application

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

How many of you have applied for grants? Some of you may remember that I am applying for a local grant to coordinate the AWE project - Artists Windows Exhibit. It was quite a long process putting together a resume (that I should have done years ago). I was surprised that it didn’t sound half-bad. And then writing my very first grant application.

Bryant Stewart at Opus

Bryant Stewart at Opus, Photography © Susan Elkin

I have put together quite a but of supporting materials including my own Artist Statement and Artist Biography. But also other artists were generous enough to let me include their bios - thank you!. I am going to be getting a letter of support from someone who works at building the creative economy. That is the last piece I need to put together.

Luckily, I have the press release from the current AWE project. And the maps that they have given out to show stores that were involved in the downtown celebration. And, last but not least, BEAUTIFUL photographs by Susan of 8 of the stores windows!! Susan is wanting to blog again and may respond to a nudge or two.

I thought you would enjoy seeing another window from our local exhibits. I would love to hear about your experiences - whether exhibits or the rest of life!
