Today Was Very Busy

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Thank you Jean and Butterfly for letting me know others are reading this soul searching - it is good to know I am not just talking to myself.  I was very busy today between a broken door lock and the press releasees for the AWE Project (Artists Window Exhibit).  I have lots to say about the grant and the AWE Project - very excited! … but tomorrow is my Remicade day in the hospital so I hope to have more energy to write tomorrow night.  I keep talking with you all in my head about this issue and can’t wait to share .. but I need to put my health first.

There are so many things to say but I think I have to go to bed instead. To me this blue and yellow image looks like the foreground and background interact, play and exchange roles with each other (like the post a few nights ago). Thank you for understanding!! Thanks for coming by!!

Bird House Auction

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

I went to the Greenfield Public Library auction for the Bird Houses last night.  I was thrilled when I got there to see someone had bid on mine. Most bird houses had papers next to them with places for the bids (In at least $5 increments.)  Not all of them had any bids when I got there, so I was thrilled to see mine had started at $25.  (Not all had started that high either.) By the time we left, there were 2 more bids … so fairly respectable.  A few of the incredible ones - you should have seen them!! - were auctioned off live. Glad I took part in the project! This bird nest image is in honor of the bird house project.

Today I spent the day working on the People’s Voice newsletter and have almost finished the rough layout.  Many things cannot get finalized until I get a little more info, but I have made great progress over the last few days!  So excited!!  I will still have to resize images more and such … but it is in good shape.  I have been using something that Lisa Call said - paraphrased here - “How do I get so much done?  I make decisions instead of agonizing.”  I found this useful for plowing through and making decisions.  Lisa’s great blog is here.

Now back to the AWE Project and finishing the press release and putting the word out about the changes this time. Thanks for coming by!!

AWE Project Press Work

Saturday, November 1st, 2008

I have been pulling together promo materials for the next AWE Project (Artist Window Exhibit).  Luckily someone else is going to take the first run at writing it up.  But it took me several hours to pour through old emails and documents to get statistics.  We have had a total of 41 artists and 32 stores take part in this project over the last year and a half.  (No wonder I am tired coordinating it - grin!!)  And we have several more stores who want to join in this Spring AWE - new ones.  We have been hearing that stores have been hurt they haven’t been invited - pretty cool if you ask me!!  Due to the holidays, participation is lower - 14 artists in 12 stores - but it will still look beautiful!! And this time we are including students from the local high school - so that is very exciting!

Earth and Flower Devas

To me this looks like a flower deva on the left and an earth mother on the right.   But calling the earth mother a deva seemed to make more sense.  I think this one is cool.

In this AWE Project is a very powerful exhibit called the 100 Faces of War Experience. You can see the website here.  This is “Portraits and Words of Americans who Served in Iraq and Afghanistan.”  It is an ongoing project.  You can see that these works have a lot of power.

Pet Monolgues - Matisse in Butterflies II

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

The presentation for the AWE Project (Artists Window Exhibit) went fantastic last night!! The [tag]Local Cultural Council[/tag} that gave me the grant in the first place was extremely pleased with both the progress on the project and my presentation.  The AWE project has local artists showing in store windows to promote the economy, stores and artists.

This is a Fanciful Animal Image that you have not seen at all yet.  Hope you enjoy.

This image is for the Pet Monologues which is the blog which I directed you to showing that incredible video about the lion hugging the woman who rescued him. Here is that other lion video I told you about the other day. This video is absolutely amazing!! If you loved that lion video I showed you before - and who didn’t? Then you will LOVE LOVE LOVE this video … it is utterly amazing … some of us have cried from the beauty. I know I could put the video here … but it slows things down more - so I wanted to link you to it. It will open in a new window.

Right now there is a post about Preniptutuals and dog weddings - check it out! This is those great photos with the bears. There is a funny story about a bear today. Also they highlight art, poems and more that showcase animals every week. You can see their blog here. And this is the post for this particular challenge. I hope you enjoy the images there!! Here is a wonderful post about Polar Bears being designated endangered - check it out! Anyone can join in this fun here too!! They put up a few of the images and then have links to the rest of the sites … perhaps you will feel moved to participate!

Lots of Progress in the AWE Project

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Today I worked very very hard on the AWE (Artists Window Exhibit) - we have 26 stores and 23 artists that are involved this time.  It was quite an exciting meeting today as a whole lot of artists got together - most not knowing each other - and divided up the windows.  For the first time artists are also sharing windows.  One artist makes shoes by hand - and 2 other artists are going to show creative photographs of shoes. This cool synergy is a great step of having the AWE project go up a notch.  And to let you know, tomorrow I go in the hospital for my Remicade.

Working on the AWE Project

Monday, August 18th, 2008

Today I worked on the AWE (Artists Window Exhibit) … it is coming along but a LOT of work. We are increasing the number of artists involved in putting their work in the windows and adding stores and offices too. I will be showing you photos of past windows shortly. I have made a spread sheet with the stores and also one of the artists for this exhibit - September 15 - October 15. Pretty tired from all the calling and detail work … so keeping things short today.  Susan Elkin posted on her blog today if you want to go visit her!!  Hope you like this new image … and Thank YOU for coming by!!

Sharing Responsibility

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

Today the Artists of Franklin County had our monthly meeting.  I am delighted that the group is ready to take more ownership of the group by sharing the tasks.  I am very relieved.  For over a year and a half I have basically held the group together until things really gelled.  I am thrilled that the last 6 months or so new people have joined and have become involved and committed. Now we are taking concrete steps so that several of us are taking and sharing responsibility.  Yippee!!

More good news - today in an online group where I am a moderator, someone else has stepped up to take great leadership. I am so happy that I can stop trying to figure out how to make this online group streamlined and functioning well.

Once I read, “If you are smart enough to make yourself indispensable, then you are smart enough how to make yourself dispensable.” So I am feeling better but I still have too much responsibility and I am trying - responsibly - to streamline my commitments.  I am still fairly tired.  Thank you for stopping by!!!

Expansion & Update

Friday, April 11th, 2008

Hi everyone!! This is an image that I am thinking of putting up for sale at Etsy as an ACEO. I am eager to see if people like this. I have one friend who wanted me to make this into a very large print to hang in her house. So I put it up at my ImageKind gallery where people can buy prints for not that much. Here is my shop.

I am keeping this short again today … We have finished putting together our work for the shows (AWE) next week. I have combed through all the emails from the artists group I coordinate to figure out a whole bunch of issues - I then pooled all the info and wrote it up. Also I wrote the first draft of the press release. Whew!! The work is coming together. So hopefully I will soon have more time to catch up with you!! Thank you again!

I have my printing done for the AWE Project. Now Susan puts most of the frames together, I made sure they are square and put on the wire. I have to make my own bio for the windows, find the other artists to see if they are wanting me to print and laminate theirs (since I coordinate this project), and then write a press release. I am tired just thinking about all this. Somewhere rest HAS to fit in here.

Playing Around & AWE

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

You said you wanted some new work … I tried fooling around and made this. I don’t know what to think … but I thought I would share it with you. I did all the printing for the AWE (Artists Window Exhibit) Project today. I am going to have a total of 20 painting matted and framed. We also did Susan’s printing. Whew!

Night Birds

I have 2 stores to be in. One is only for a week .. so luckily I don’t have to all them all prepared for next week. Susan also is in 2 or 3 stores … but there is not as much room for her paintings. I had no idea how much I would have to do when I took the stores no one else wanted. Susan is going to start putting together the frames tomorrow and the glass is coming Thursday. But the big decisions are made … now there is just all the work to make them happen.

I am pretty tired today from all the going up and down stairs from printing yesterday and today. But I can rest more tomorrow … maybe even get to make some comments on your blog! Thank you for being supportive of healing and not pushing myself. I am still just plain weak!! I love hearing how you are!!

Something Different and AWE

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

Now for something I don’t think you’ve seen before. This came out of playing around with Studio Artist - a very fun computer art program. I had so much fun transforming a beautiful bird image into a horse of a different color. Hmmm … I bet Pet Monologues might think this could be an appropriate animal image for them. You are seeing this image because a friend wanted some of my ACEOs. She went through all my galleries and this is one of the ones she choose to want to have. Neither the Fanciful Animal Images or the bubblescapes are in those galleries. I need to make bubblescape galleries and the animals have their own galleries. I am delighted that such a fantastic artist wants my work - I will ask her if I can share one of her pieces with you sometime and point you to her website and Etsy shop.

The AWE (Artists Window Exhibit) Project is in just over a week. I have to get going on printing, matting and framing my work to be exhibited. Luckily Susan is fantastic at helping me with such things. (Particularly the framing which is the hardest for me). I need to take some steps to get that going or else I will be in trouble in a week. Please wish me luck!

Today I am feeling more connected to the Universe energetically - whew!! I feel like my body is made of light and energy (which we all are). To me this is a great indication that I have taken another step in healing!! Thank you for all your support, kindness and healing.

I did another Treasury today at Etsy - if you would like to see and and get the link, please visit my other blog - thank you!   Susan Elkin did a post today again!

Some of you will remember the AWE (Artists Windows Exhibit) Project. I got a grant to coordinate the project of putting artists work in store windows 3 times this year. The first show is April 15 - May 15. So, I have been busy … Susan has done tons of it - I don’t know what I would have done without her help!

Tomorrow I need to go to a meeting to finalize details with the artists. It will be the first time I have been out of the house (except doctors and my hospital appointment in 5 weeks). I am still fairly weak. I have an appointment to go see my regular doctor tomorrow right after the meeting. My lungs are still iffy. So … I am doing better but far from good. Thank you!!
