Pet Monolgues - Matisse in Butterflies II

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

The presentation for the AWE Project (Artists Window Exhibit) went fantastic last night!! The [tag]Local Cultural Council[/tag} that gave me the grant in the first place was extremely pleased with both the progress on the project and my presentation.  The AWE project has local artists showing in store windows to promote the economy, stores and artists.

This is a Fanciful Animal Image that you have not seen at all yet.  Hope you enjoy.

This image is for the Pet Monologues which is the blog which I directed you to showing that incredible video about the lion hugging the woman who rescued him. Here is that other lion video I told you about the other day. This video is absolutely amazing!! If you loved that lion video I showed you before - and who didn’t? Then you will LOVE LOVE LOVE this video … it is utterly amazing … some of us have cried from the beauty. I know I could put the video here … but it slows things down more - so I wanted to link you to it. It will open in a new window.

Right now there is a post about Preniptutuals and dog weddings - check it out! This is those great photos with the bears. There is a funny story about a bear today. Also they highlight art, poems and more that showcase animals every week. You can see their blog here. And this is the post for this particular challenge. I hope you enjoy the images there!! Here is a wonderful post about Polar Bears being designated endangered - check it out! Anyone can join in this fun here too!! They put up a few of the images and then have links to the rest of the sites … perhaps you will feel moved to participate!

Lots of Progress in the AWE Project

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Today I worked very very hard on the AWE (Artists Window Exhibit) - we have 26 stores and 23 artists that are involved this time.  It was quite an exciting meeting today as a whole lot of artists got together - most not knowing each other - and divided up the windows.  For the first time artists are also sharing windows.  One artist makes shoes by hand - and 2 other artists are going to show creative photographs of shoes. This cool synergy is a great step of having the AWE project go up a notch.  And to let you know, tomorrow I go in the hospital for my Remicade.

These “Fanciful Animal Images” would be adorable in any children’s room with a special pet, or look quite wonderful in sitting areas.

I find Diane’s work to be energetic and yet peaceful. Her color choices, design and composition show a sharp eye for a creation sure to grace your walls! With work priced from $4.00 to well over $1000.00, you easily find something for every budget, any room, or that special gift.

Featured on Design Style Guide

Friday, July 11th, 2008

Jean Hood wrote this wonderful piece about me …. you can see the whole version here. Jean’s website is here and her blog is here.  My Etsy Shop is here where you can buy these items!

The Design Style Guide is a wonderful new place that is bringing together thousands of items that are appropriate for Home Decor. Their main purpose is to promote the team and its members to Interior Designers (and like-minded consumers) through various promotions and advertising techniques.

This group is also known as the Interior Design Team at Etsy. This is part of the move to promote handmade items instead of mass produced things. Their focus is on marketing and branding “Handmade Home Decor” to professional Interior Designers.

Moving Toward Licensing

Friday, June 13th, 2008

I am making progress … I hope tomorrow I will be able to start moving on licensing again. Licensing is when someone or some company wants to use your images on their things - whether a yoga CD for someone’s class or Hallmark on their cards or place mats for your table and everything in between. Since many of my paintings are popular, I would very much like to license my work so lots of people can enjoy them.

Cyan Portal

Cyan Portal, Digital © Diane Clancy

With licensing the artist gets some amount of money each time her image is used. Once that is set up, it becomes passive income - like royalties from a book.  I am sure you can see why I like this idea. I can feel the internal changes happening that mean I can getting ready to tackle licensing.  I am realizing that I am worried I will get rejected .. well, we know for sure there will likely be more than a few of those unless I hit the heart of the target right off!

With all this commotion about the Orphan Works Act, I also have been discouraged to move along on the licensing … people were saying that places wouldn’t have to do licensing any more.  But at this point I am convinced that reputatable places will stay be paying. So now it is just about time to get started … and to bill once again the place that I did work for in January that still has not paid me.  Thanks for coming by!!
