This image is for the Pet Monologues which is the blog which I directed you to showing that incredible video about the lion hugging the woman who rescued him. Also they highlight art, poems and more that showcase animals every week. You can see there blog here. And this is the post for this particular challenge. I hope you enjoy the images there!! Here is a cool post about a Dog Beach - check it out! Anyone can join in this fun here too!! They put up a few of the images and then have links to the rest of the sites … perhaps you will feel moved to participate!
I did another Treasury today at Etsy - if you would like to see and and get the link, please visit my other blog - thank you!  Susan Elkin did a post today again!
Some of you will remember the AWE (Artists Windows Exhibit) Project. I got a grant to coordinate the project of putting artists work in store windows 3 times this year. The first show is April 15 - May 15. So, I have been busy … Susan has done tons of it - I don’t know what I would have done without her help!
Tomorrow I need to go to a meeting to finalize details with the artists. It will be the first time I have been out of the house (except doctors and my hospital appointment in 5 weeks). I am still fairly weak. I have an appointment to go see my regular doctor tomorrow right after the meeting. My lungs are still iffy. So … I am doing better but far from good. Thank you!!

I thought you would like this image of our family pet - just kidding. We took it out in the back yard - just kidding. But I did make this fanciful animal image.
I found this blog the other day - It is called Power Guides … and lists top artist blogs - AND this blog is listed! I am very excited!!
I am now really hoping to be well enough to go Friday for the Remicade … my body desperately needs the treatment and I think the infection might at last be backed off enough - even though I am no where near well. Thank you again for all your good wishes!!

I couldn’t resist sharing this with you since it is yesterday’s Emma in this Treasury. Also a brief update from the outside … I went outside for the first time in a few days … the snow banks are mostly between 4 and 4 1/2 feet high still. Some are more like 5 feet where snow has fell off the roof .. pretty much winter still! Wow! But the driveway looks a little better.
I have mentioned the VAST group (Visual Artists Street Team) that I belong to at Etsy. Here is the VAST Blog if you would like to know more. We also help each other market-our art work - we are an online, international group that is creative, loves art, creates original art and has an Etsy Shop.
I also belong to BBEST - Boomers and Beyond Etsy Street Team. This is a very active group who work hard at marketing and being visible. Here is the BBEST Blog … The Boomers are 40 and over … lots of fun!
Etsy has a very cool thing called a Treasury - someone puts together 12 items of people’s work with some common theme. This theme is BBEST of Flowers. I am so so excited because I am in this Treasury!! Dancing up and down with joy!!! I bet regular readers of this blog will identify my piece without reading my name. Thank you Precious Quilts! Precious Quilts has lovely things she has handmade quilts and crochet blankets in her shop!!

If you feel inclined, I would love if you would click the Blogger Choice Awards on the side of this … unfortunately they don’t have art … but this is cobbled together and hopefully they will include Art next year. If you so choose, you can vote for all 4 categories. Unfortunately, you need to register … but only once. Kris Cahill was the one who nominated me - thank you, Kris … check out her blog … she is also being featured as an artist on another blog! The buttons are down a little on the right sidebar. Thank you!!
Sweet Irene has given me the Intellectually Simulating Blog Award. It is an award I have desired for a long time (in blog time anyway!!) I am absolutely thrilled to have gotten this!! Thank you!!
There is another award that I have really wanted for a long time!! Frances and Sweet Irene have jointly given me the An Apple for Teacher Blog Award. I am absolutely delighted to have gotten this!! Thank you so much!!
Now time to give out an award!!! Sweet Irene had given me something which I can only call the Mwah Award. It is a great big red kiss and its function is described as follows:
‘It’s a big kiss, of the chaste, platonic kind, from me to you with the underlying ‘thanks’ message implied. I really do appreciate your support and your friendship, and yes, your comments.’
I just found out that I am in a third Treasury!! Here is a post about it to my other blog and here is the link to the Treasury. I am so excited!! And late breaking news - another Treasury … Here is another post about that on my other blog too .. and here is the link to the Kitty Treasury! I found another Treasury too - it is in that 2nd post!! Thank you for caring!!

Sweet Irene was kind enough to give me another award - the Creative Blogger Award!! I could get used to having this kind of appreciation!! Thank you so much, Irene. I feel honored!! Truth be told, I really love this kind of award … when these teaching, creative, inspirational awards go around, I am always hoping and hoping someone will give one to me. So, thank you, Irene!
Creative Blogger Award
I found out today that Kris Cahill has nominated me (this blog) for Bloggers Choice Awards - I am awed and amazed!! You can check them out Bloggers Choice. Many of you know about Bloggers Choice Awards where we all (once you register) get to choose the best blogs in lots of different categories. It is an honor to be even suggested … never mind win. Someone wanted to nominate me for a best blog in Art, but there is no category for Art. Some of us wrote them and they suggested Art was a Hobby. Kris then nominated me for Best Marketing Blog, Best Blog About Stuff, Best Business Blog, and Best Hobby Blog.
If you click on these “badges” you get to go vote for me .. but you do need to register. I will put them in my sidebar …. but this is what I could do today. Thank you, Kris!! You have All Made My Day!!
Many of you know that I belong to WWAO (Worldwide Women Artists Online) which is an international organization of women artists who market our art for sale on the web. It is a very cool group and exciting to be with an international group like this. There is a new page up “Baby, It’s Cold Out There” (obviously, the people who were kind enough to set up this show are in the northern hemisphere) … Many months an artist will offer to put up a show that features one piece from any of the artists who want their work shown. I have a piece for the first time. It just went up tonight! Some of the art is gorgeous!!!

You can check them out here. Someone wanted to nominate me for a best blog in Art. But there is no category for art. When I wrote today, they suggested (nicely) to put it in hobby. They have something like 37 categories and many a lot less obscure than art. How about we all write and request an Best Art category … then we can recommend some of our favorites!! Here is the email info@bloggerschoiceawards.com. I encourage you to write so we artists can have a little niche too! Thank you!
Lastly, someone asked me today about how to do their signature like mine … I want to share “Diane Clancy, <a title=”www.dianeclancy.com/blog” href=”http://dianeclancy.com/blog”>www.dianeclancy.com/blog</a>” is the code I use to leave my little footprint. This leaves an active link so people can go right to your blog. Some of you may remember how people kept going to my Blogger blog instead of here .. so some of you asked me to do this … and helped me learn how. Please let me know if you need more help.
A few types of blogs have probelms with this code. With TypePad and LiveJournal blogs I leave “~ Diane Clancy, http://dianeclancy.com/blog”. I hope this helps a few of you anyway! Thanks for coming by!!
Pet Monologues is the blog which I directed you to showing that incredible video about the lion hugging the woman who rescued him. I sure was moved and I think many of you were too!! Also they highlight art, poems and more that showcase animals every week. You can see there blog here. And this is the post for this particular challenge. This is the first time I have entered anything. This image is extra wide because of their requirements. I hope you enjoy!!
I am having a hard time finding much get up and go right now. I am way behind on blogging and posting and my browser is like molasses. (For those who might not understand that phrase, it means that it is moving very slowly like cold molasses.) Perhaps I have too many windows and programs open right now. If I can only get some things done, then it might speed up.
The other big thing is finances … I have to get going on Susan’s and my taxes … and it is all feeling like molasses!! Do I hear you saying, no wonder? And I am working on a potential design and sometimes that is scary. So it is one of those times that feels a little overwhelming! Thank you for being in my life and caring.
Consignment shops vary widely. Once Susan suggested this little used clothing shop in a nearby town for me to put our cards into. She had scoped it out (Susan loves driving around … it helps her balance herself and feel free). We put our goods into the car, loading up boxes and baskets of cards and prints. Then we went off on an adventure!
I went in and poked around for a few minutes to get the vibe of the place to make sure that it didn’t feel awful or totally inappropriate for out work. I wasn’t real enthused, but Susan had taken the time to check it out and I want to support her choices. So, I introduced myself as I was spreading a sample of our cards.
Intuitively I realized that letting my paintings speak for themselves is a powerful marketing tool. So I keep a sampling in a plastic bag to be able to spread them out like one would spread a deck of cards. Most people, not all, find something they like from my sample of cards. That doesn’t mean they will buy, but they enjoy looking at them … and that is a good first step I think. (I need to figure out how to get to the next step better).
She agreed to have our work there on consignment. She mentioned that most people came for tanning and not to buy the clothes … but it seemed worth a try since we were there and had the merchandise right there. I put out a basket or two of our cards with a price sign. We agreed I would call periodically and see if there were any sales … and we wrote up an informal agreement.
It was several months later that we went for another adventure (with many more in between I am sure) and stopped by the shop again. Since nothing at all had moved, I went in and told her I wanted to remove the cards. I had the paper work with me and made sure I counted all the cards to make sure they were there.
One of the issues that needs to get worked out as we drop off our cards, is who takes the responsibility if things are stolen. I was just as glad to take out our cards from there. The people were nice enough but it didn’t feel like a good match.
But some people had be exposed to our work (lots of people did look she said) and we learned more about marketing. Since Susan felt inclined, it was certainly worth trying … but in the future we would pass on a similar [tag[venue[/tag]- especially one that we had to spend time and gas to get there. But it was part of our learning experience.
About Sebastian … here he is in butterflies instead of flowers. Here he is in flowers. I want to let you know that when I get a photo of your animal, all that matters is that the photo of your special friend is a good quality of your animal. I cut your pet out of the background and insert them into a file I have with about 50 layers. So, incidental backgrounds are not important.
Of course, the higher the contrast between your friend and the background, the easier and cleaner it is to cut them out. Also, remember I have to put them into a field, so how much of them you give me … or how they are standing or lying, is what I have to work with. But I have quite a bit of experience with being flexible with all this at this point … I have worked with many images!
Thank you for following y journey!! I am always glad to hear about yours!
I am home again and safe. We are supposed to get another storm Saturday night or Sunday but it will probably much worse on the coast than here. Thank you for you concern. I want to share a great delight I had tonight … a friend who ordered 2 totes and a journal called me up absolutely delighted with her order!! They use totes a lot and felt they were very high quality … from start to finish … the whole experience … so I am delighted.
This is totally copied off the Two Things Challenge blog that I participate in. I am still working on my entry for the week. It is a great opportunity (below) so I hope you will consider it! Totally copied from what Debi said:
“A Twist and an Extended Deadline
“I just received an email from the blog author of The Chronicles of Tewkesbury, and I am blown away by the idea she has concocted.
“Be sure to do your post for this week’s 2 Thing Challenge and by your doing so the Chronicler of Tewkesbury is going to reach into her pocket and give $5 to charity. How cool and in the spirit of the season is that?
This courageous blogger, Toddler Planet, gets to chose the charity.
I (Debi) will also match Tewkesbury’s donation that comes from every 2 Thing Challenge post this week.
“I know you regular 2 Thing’ers are going to love this. And for those of you who have considered it, but have yet to jump in, now’s the time. Remember it doesn’t have to be a photograph. It can be a poem, a drawing, a painting, a collage, a textile, a song, anything you can think or dream up and post on your blog. Let’s be the change we’d like to see in the world. Or, another way to say it, let’s be holders of real value.
“P.S. Feel free to pass on the word on your blog. The extended deadline is Wednesday December 19th.”
I hope you will consider joining in any medium!!
If you want totes, tiles, mugs and more please check out my CafePress Shop. I will continue with the adventures of out fairs.
Here is an example of the before and after picture of Miss Chi Chi as she is all ready to go out on the town. Chi Chi loves getting dressed up in hats!! Chi Chi is so delighted to be featured on this blog!! She loves the attention!!
This gives you a sense of what I do for my Fanciful Animal Images. My friend and client gave me several photos of Chi Chi so I could choose which I thought would be most successful. I chose this one and you can see the results!
