I'm like you Diane, I love seeing my images on products like mugs, magnets, mousepads and such. I sell way more at Zazzle, and the products I did purchase for Christmas gifts I really liked. I have also bought items through Cafepress and really like them too. I purchased 2 t-shirts for myself and they have been my favorite for a couple of years. I am waiting for one of the sites to make puzzles, that would be cool.
Thanks for this informative thread, I have found it to be interesting, informative and true.

I was turned off by Cafepress first by the very silly only one of each item rule and secondly by the need to make different images so an image will work for each product.
Their crazy only 10% markup on their market place is just the nail in the coffin.

I was thrilled to find Zazzle which has free shops without limit. It is also extremely easy to make most products after you set up your quick create templates.

I have a premium shop at Cafe Press, and think that print-on-demand is the most important technological development for artists, because it vastly reduces the financial cost of doing business.
My wife doesn't like the teeshirts from Cafe Press, so i am really trying to find out what POD service has the best quality shirts. I'm thinking of adding Zazzle to my vendors i use, so i await your next post anxiously.

the pricing issue doesn't bother me that much. Cafe Press is trying to be competitive, and they are still experimenting with their Marketplace pricing. Wal-Mart sells DVDs cheaper than Best Buy, but if you make DVDs, you want to do business with both.

i look at people who buy my products through their marketplace as their customers, not mine. ultimately, the lack of overhead will keep me on there, and i can sell my products to MY customers at whatever price i want. they don't know the difference.
