Spring and Anniversary

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

Again I missed the anniversary of this blog – I have been posting almost every day on this blog for over 2 years now.  I find I really like the connection with YOU, my collectors!!  Your interaction with me – even when you don’t post – helps me feel that the art I create positively impacts the world – YOUR world! So thank you so much!

You may have seen this before but I decided to share this in honor of Spring!!  Yes – it is warmer today and I am going out for a walk.  This is available as an Art Card, ACEO at Etsy – for only $6!  It is also available in other sizes … I have it as an 11 x 14″ print in an 16 x 20″ German silver frame.  This has been one of my best sellers!

It is so much fun to hear how much you love my work in traditional mediums … and I think that my digital work has actually sold more – so I wouldn’t want to stop that – just create both!  I would love to hear about you!!   Is it spring or fall where you are?  Are you enjoying the weather?  Thank you for stopping by!

Pastel for Frances and Report

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

I have know Frances for a long time in the blogging world … and we have been very faithful posters on each others’ blogs at times.  The other day Frances said ” I do agree with Irene. I haven’t been visiting much recently, but I do really like your hand made work sooooooo much. I guess I am an old fashioned girl.”  So this one is in honor of you Frances!  This is one of the vibrant, colorful pastel ACEOs that I created a couple of weeks ago. Frances went on to say “The digital images are pretty, but the pastels and suchlike are moving and interesting – I guess the hand work makes them more emotional?  Way to go gal.”

I really appreciate the comments and the intent – this all helps me get back painting with traditional mediums!!  I think I will put some prints of these pastels in my Etsy Shop.  I am working on some originals also so that I can list them in one or more of my online shops.  Let me know if you would like one … you can also buy one here.

I want to let you know that the procedure today went very well.  The preparation was brutal … but my specialist said that it is very clear that the Remicade is helping my Crohn’s Disease greatly!  So that is great news for me!!  Thank you for stopping by!

Illustration Friday – Talisman

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

Every week Illustration Friday has a challenge for a specific word. It is a great way to showcase your work and a wonderful opportunity to meet lots of wonderful people! Anyone can join in with their entry to Illustration Friday. I so much enjoy doing this challenge. This week is Talisman. This vibrant, colorful painting of Talisman is something that I would not leave the house without .. it keeps me safe and makes sure the devas and angels are with me at all times. It is a photo of my Talisman … ok, well a painting from my head, not a photo.  Well, I don’t take this with me, but I DO like devas and angels with me all the time!  Come to think of it, this looks a little like the Green Man!  I encourage you to check Illustration Friday out! Lots of fun people and paintings!

Fantastical Sunrise

Monday, April 6th, 2009

This Fantastical Sunrise is one of my vibrant, colorful paintings .. I think it fun and looks a little like a sunrise on another planet … or is it this planet – perhaps with the Northern Lights.  Are there Southern Lights too in the southern hemisphere?  It seems like there should be … but I don’t remember hearing about them.  I personally have never been near the equator or in the southern hemisphere. To me most of my bubblescapes look like they are from Earth even though all the colors are different from the usual here … but this one looks just plain alien … from outer space.  Any thoughts that you have about all this?

Today I have started a nasty prep for an important medical test … so I am very spacey and not been able to do much. Tomorrow it will be escalating so I think I should rest a lot.  I would love to hear about you!!   Thank you for stopping by!

Pastel for Irene

Saturday, April 4th, 2009

Irene of  www.themostsplendidday.blogspot.com said ” I would love to see more of your pastels, because I think your true artistry comes out best in those and they are so fabulous.” So this one is in honor of you Irene.  This is one of the vibrant, colorful pastel ACEOs that I created a couple of weeks ago. Irene went on to say “I think the computer does no justice to your talents, though you turn out nice things. I like the non virtual arts in which you excel. Even if they are the ACEO’s. Go and show those, they are lovely.”

To be a broken record, I plan to get back to the studio to work in traditional mediums … Irene’s lovely encouragement helps me go in that direction.  Today I did manage to get somewhat back to work on digging out all the back-uped work from the family situations going on. It is one of those times for one foot after the other … and also getting into the studio.

I think I will put some prints of these pastels in my Etsy Shop.  I am working on some originals also so that I can list them in one or more of my online shops.  Let me know if you would like one … you can also buy one here.   Thank you for stopping by!

See Great Beauty Everywhere

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

Blue Cosmos is in tribute to the outer reaches of space.  Allow this vibrant, colorful painting to take you into the deepest reaches of the Universe … where you can find your heart’s desire, see great beauty everywhere around and where and when things become crystal clear. We can each use some time like this to ease our souls and bring ourselves into alignment with our true purpose.

You can see another Out Space painting at CafePress … Diane’s Shop (http://cafepress.com/dianeclancy) – actually several more – as mugs, totes and tiles.  Here you can see a framed tile of Outer Space III.  Some of these are early bubblescape versions and some of the other ones that are more recent you will probably recognize too.

Tomorrow I am hoping that things will slow down and I can gracefully get back to working on my art and business more.  I would love to hear about you!!   Thank you for stopping by!

Pastel ACEO and Thank You Note

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

This is one of the vibrant, colorful pastel ACEOs that I created a couple of weeks ago.  I thought you would enjoy seeing it.  I really enjoyed making these Art Cards, ACEOs with traditional mediums .. in this case pastel.  I have been wearing rubber gloves the last couple of years when I have been creating with pastels.  I don’t know if that is silly or smart.  I tend to do a lot of blending of colors to lay down a carpet of color to then draw the image  into.  I sketched a little with pencil so I could work the fields of color into rough shapes.  I love smearing the colors around to get the effects I like.  I don’t think most artists use pastel this way .. but I enjoy it and some people like the effect.

Each birthday and Christmas I give two of my nieces cards of my artwork.  Part of the present is they get to look through my website and blog to choose whichever painting they choose.  It is a fun way to have a focus together.  The last year or two I have also given them each an Art Card, ACEO of the same chosen image.  They have had great fun getting them. And I LOVE getting back thank you notes on these cards!

As a second ACEO, this year I gave my niece Sarah a print of one of the pastel ACEOs I recently created.  Here is what she said in  her thank note : “Thank you very much for the cards and the two trading cards. I absolutely love them! I really like the extra trading card and how you can see the pencil strokes and the texture (I pulled it out of its sleeve to touch it – just to see – it’s amazing and really pretty!)” This is part of what you would get if you purchase one of these.

I think I will put some prints of these pastels in my Etsy Shop.  I am working on some originals also so that I can list them in one or more of my online shops.  Let me know if you would like one … you can also buy one here.   Thank you for stopping by!

Fostering and a Painting

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

I would love if you would tell what you think and feel about this painting … I like the delicacy and colors in this one … and would love to hear what you think.

Today was the monthly Board meeting of the Fostering the Arts and Culture of Franklin County, MA.  It is very exciting to be part of a group that is growing the Creative Economy in this county.  Tomorrow night many artists in this county are also meeting together to work on talking about what we want out of a website.  It is all very exciting and it takes a lot of time sometimes.  I was quoted in an article I saw today at the meeting.  When I can, I will share that with you … I need to figure out if they would mind if I quote it extensively.

Thank you for stopping by! I would love to hear about you!!
