Two Paintings to Name

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

Hi everyone .. I am fairly exhausted.  I think the stress of the last 6 weeks is catching up with me.  I am not feeling well or functioning very well.  I have these ideas I want to blog about (and other things to do) but I just can’t – it is as if I am in a thick, unpleasant fog .. and just not able to think very well.  I think I need rest big time .. but do not feel rested from resting.

Stillpoint in the Swirl

Monday, March 9th, 2009

This is one of my dreamscapes … Yesterday Sadia of Sadia Paintings said she liked “How about this one? Digital” the best out of the several paintings that Mel had put in his feature of me and my vibrant, colorful paintings … so this is dedicated to Sadia … it is a different color but I think she will enjoy the texture. I just found one of Sadia’s images that I just HAVE to share with you … it is utterly incredible!!  Here is the post for this image.

This is also not my usual palette (nor Sadia’s) but I hope the form, texture and meaning will delight Sadia!  I see the center of calm in the middle of this painting as the heart or stillpoint as all the motion of emotions and dreams swirl around this center of peace.

I am still dragging from the time change and all the tension of the family issues I have been dealing with … I am hoping to have more energy tomorrow. In the meantime, I am at least sometimes supporting my own Stillpoint. Thank you for stopping by! I would love to hear about you!!

Two Things Challenge – Stars & Stripes

Saturday, March 7th, 2009

I like to enter the 2 Things Challenge each week. This week is Stripes / Stars. This is my second entry for Stripes & Stars – I call it Stars & Stripes.  I had to get past the idea of the flag (US) to make this one. I hope you like it!!  This is one of my vibrant, colorful paintings – sort of in traditional Easter colors – you can see more at my Etsy Shop.  Here are the entries for last week’s Shadows / Patterns. Anyone can join in, and I hope you give it a try!! We would love more people playing with us!  Poems, photos, paintings, writing, songs are all welcome!!  Details are at this link above.

Sometimes I get very insecure about what I am creating when I am switching modes of HOW I am working.  This was created in Illustrator … and it was giving me a lot of problems.  Tools wouldn’t switch from one variation to another.  I wasn’t being able to have the control I have had in the past.  And when I haven’t worked in a particular style for awhile, I am sure that what I am creating is junk.  Do you go through similar angst?

I would love to hear how you are doing. Thanks for coming by!

6 Billion Others

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

Today I made some progress on catching up on some things that I to put aside the last 5 weeks as I have dealt with this stressful family issue.  It felt great to get some of my own work done today!  And I talked with my friend who is in Paris now – we talked for almost an hour and a half.  It is amazing to me that regular people can do that now … really talk with people around the world.  Fantastic!!

Speaking of which … she went to this incredible exhibit in Paris that has just closed .. to then move on to other parts of the world.  This is .. 6 Billion Others by Yann Arthus-Bertrand.  It was housed in a 4 story glass conservatory and it had huts inside … ok that was the least important part – but even that sounds so perfect!

Micro View

They interviewed over 5,000 people and asked them to each talk about the same issues and then shared what people said.  It was one person sharing after another and very powerful!  There is also an online version that you will probably want to go check out  – 6 Billion Others (http://6billionothers.org).  I have had a chance to only glance at this so far … but it is very exciting!

Such a powerful tool to show how we are all human .. everywhere on this earth. Here is one of my vibrant, colorful paintings! Thank you for stopping by!  I would love to hear about you!!

Who Am I?

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

To me this image looks like something more than a design … something seems to be going on here (to me anyway) …  I would love to hear what YOU think!  I have been straight out today – so this has been my chance to create for you – thank you so much!  This has been a high stress time and the main trigger of the stress has just been extended for 2 weeks more … somehow I need to find peace here while I wait. I am very eager to see what you say about this image!
