Been Working in the Studio

Monday, February 16th, 2009

I am thrilled to report that I have been working in the studio … using real, non-digital, art materials.  This is one of the results.  I have created 15 ACEOs that I like … and by the end of doing them, I was getting back in the groove again of how I use pastels.  I have never tried to draw so small before – not in any serious way.  Some of you know I have been trying to get back in there (the studio) to create with traditional mediums … so this is quite a success for me!

On the last several ACEOs, I was tackling them as if I actually knew what I was doing .. it  was a great feeling!  I love working digitally and it has been wonderful for me to be able to … especially when I often didn’t feel well enough to be in the real physical studio.  But it was also miraculous for me to be able go into the studio … where there is no UNDO button … and start to feel good about creating this tiny little cards (2 1/5″ x 3 1/2″) …. it started to be a whole lot of fun!  Even though it is cold in the studio – the temperature is 63 degrees.

I hope you like this vibrant,  colorful painting! I know I do … I use pastels in a way unlike most people … but I use them the way that feels right to me … Delighted to be sharing this with you!  Thank you … I would love to hear about your own process in creating.

Susan Elkin and I have been working quite hard on her business and she has made incredible progress.   By the way, Susan has posted today!!  Thank you for stopping by!

Two Things Challenge – Corner & Door

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

I like to enter the 2 Things Challenge each week. This week is Corner / Door. This is my entry for Corner & Door.  Bet you thought I would be stumped on this one!  I hope you like it!!  This is a vibrant, colorful painting of a Corner Door (Door on the Corner).  I hope you can see that this is a strange, foreign world (as if all of mine aren’t) … Here there are large vibrant planets in the skies … looming over the world.  In my childhood and youth I read lots of science fiction, so as soon as I saw these planets in the sky, I KNEW they had to stay!  Here are the entries for last week’s Hot / Cold. Anyone can join in, and I hope you give it a try!! We would love more people playing with us! Details are at this link above.

I am too tired today to figure out who won.  Partly because we had a good meeting for the Artists of Franklin County …  and partly because tomorrow is my hospital day for Remicade – I am pretty tired and stretched out. It is good because some other people are going to step up and help put on this next AWE Project (Artists Window Exhibit). This will help it last a long, long time!

Susan Elkin and I have been doing it quite long enough as mainly the 2 of us!  She has been a great help!  By the way, Susan has posted today!!

I have written up the hardest part of the directions for setting up a shop at The Arcade … but I still need a little more inforamation – that will also be coming shortly. If you would love to see my shop at The Arcade to see what it is, my shop is http://dianeclancy.dmpmc.net where you can see items from all my different shops.

I hope you like this vibrant,  colorful painting! Let me know if you have other ideas for the name … being so low energy tonight, I did what I could.  Thank you for stopping by!
