Celebrating HeART

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

The festival of Get to the heART of it!!!! asks everyone to share your HeART by words, art, video – whatever speaks to you around love of art or love of life!

Mother Henna by artist Kara L.C. Jones has been working on an incredible project of making 1,000 Faces of Mother Henna. I am going to write more about that on Friday … it is quite a project!! But she is also sponsoring a Blog Festival: Get to the heART of it!!!! You can see the details in her post. So I am getting to the HeART of it also … hence the badge that celebrates her Festival.

Kara

Mother Henna – Get to the HeART of it!!

I am joining into this celebration and I encourage you to join in also!  The gist of joining to is to “post an entry on your own blog before Valentines Day 2009. Share your love of art or love of life or host a heART themed party or tell us about the heART of yourself. Tell us what is at the heART of you! Words, art, video, anything you wish. Write a poem, share a short story, all formats welcome.

Conundrum I

After thinking about what really represents the “the heART of myself,” I realized that this particular image is the visual representation of myself and my soul.  This vibrant, colorful painting was one that took me dozens of hours to complete. It is also very precious to me because I was spending some time at home with my parents when I started this … and my mom spent time with me choosing some of these pieces of fabric and paper to put together to create this piece. I love it and it speaks so deeply to me.

For many people it is their favorite piece of mine … If I had to choose one piece to keep, this would be it.  Also the double faces look a little like a heart. So this is my contribution for Getting to the heART of it!!!! I hope you also will share your HeART by words, art, video – whatever speaks to you around love of art or love of life!

I would like to acknowledge today that a most wondrous, historic, hopeful event happened as Obama became the President of the US today!!  This has the potential to be a unifying force in this whole earth with the leadership of such a smart, thoughtful person!  Such a joy!!!   I would love to hear how you are doing. Thanks for coming by!!

AutoFocus System and Social Media Call

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Mark Forster has a time management system – AutoFocus. You can test this for free. A free call about using Social Media (Facebook) for marketing is happening tomorrow.

Many of my regular readers know that I have been on overwhelm mode for too long. I found out a resource that I want to share because it is working so well for me.  Mark Forster has a system that is close to what I have used when I am functioning well … but with a couple of important tweaks.  There are a lot of resources at his site  http://www.markforster.net/ but what really excites me is his AutoFocus System – free to test and it will be free to everyone once it is fully tested.  I am very delighted to be putting it action today.  It has helped me break through the chronic overwhelm I have been struggling with – for too long!

Mark Forster and Time Management

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

Mark Forster has a new method of time management, using the concepts of “Thought – Decision – Action” or “Stimulus – Response.” These are wonderful, new, useful concepts.

I read about a really cool site Get Everything Done (http://www.markforster.net/) so I went and checked it out. Mark Forster has 3 books (at least) and numerous articles about various ways to tackle life so that we may be the person we really want to be. Time management and organization can be the foundation for what we want to do with our lives.  Yesterday I read the first chapter of a book that was a big WOW for me … keeping reading to find the change in vision that chapter gave me.

Dreamscape III

I used to be very effective at getting enormous amounts of things done … often feeling pretty relaxed.  But circumstances have changed and many readers of this blog knew I have been in an overwhelm mode for way too long.  This first chapter (never mind the whole book) has given me a life-line to get back my serene, creative, joyful self!

The key – we each have two parts of ourselves … part of our brain uses “Thought – Decision – Action” and another part of our brain that acts from “Stimulus – Response.” I have been on automatic coming from Stimulus – Response.  Working with these two principles is his new system of time management. You can read the first chapter for free right here.

It has been very helpful to me today.  I can see the places I am still being reactive to stimulus around me.  And I was also able to stay focused a chunk of the day.  I have been tangling with taxes and other financial details that I need to do.  I guess I am tired enough still that it is being difficult, but I did stay focused and got a lot done anyway.

I think I can go quite a distance playing with these ideas to help me get back on track. Mark has this fantastic list of tasks and he asks us to decide whether they are “Thought – Decision – Action” or “Stimulus – Response.”  I was surprised by some of the answered but it sure helped me GET the idea!! He has lots of resources on his website – definitely worth checking out!

What do you think? How do you manage your time?  Are you on track?  What needs to change for you?  Thank you so much for coming by!

The Hand Made Product Directory

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

Diane Clancy is featured at The Arcade, a storefront with her items from different shops all together. The Arcade is at the The Hand Made Product Directory.

I am very tired tonight … dealing with a lot of different issues today … in several arenas (mostly non-art)  … and I need to rest even though there is much work that needs to be done.  So I am going to share with you a new image and a reminder that this week I am in the Arcade, found at The Hand Made Product Directory.  I am sharing my Arcade Shop again because I am so pleased to see mugs, tiles, totes, custom postage, journals, prints and more – all showcasing my luscious, vibrant, colorful paintings – all in one place. It probably is silly but I am so delighted to see work from my different shops together – it gives me a big boost!!

I have been asked to write in more detail how to open your shop there … and I will very soon.  The Arcade is a portal, a brand new concept – a storefront with items of an artist from different shops all together.  In the middle of  the main page of The Arcade, this weekmy Arcade Shop is highlighted.  This one portal shop has  This idea solves much of the problem of searching through multiple shops to see what a particular artist or crafter makes. It helps the artist and the customer be able to connect!

I would love to hear from you how you are doing today – how things are going and what projects you are working on!! Thanks for coming by!!

Two Things Challenge – Paper & Plastic

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

I like to enter the 2 Things Challenge each week. This week is Paper / Plastic. This is my entry for Paper & Plastic  – I bet this one is pretty obvious – I bet you can guess which trash is paper and which is plastic!  I hope you like it!! Here are the entries for last week’s Partial / Whole. Anyone can join in, and I hope you give it a try!! We would love more people playing with us! Details are at this link above.

Paper & Plastic

To state the obvious, it makes a difference whether we use paper or plastic in our lives.  This is where the the recycling has gone and you can see how the paper has started to decompose but the plastic stays as bright and perky as ever! Even when plastic is recycled, it is better for the environment to reduce our usage of plastic.  The slogan is Reduce first and foremost, Reuse is the next best thing and Recycle when you can’t do the first too. So let’s all reduce as much as we can.

Every time we make choices about what to buy at the store – including  how it is packaged -  makes an impact on the environment as you can see from this image. Plastic stays around for a long, long time. The more we can reduce in excess packaging the better – many of us know often the packaging takes up more room than the item itself!  Let’s all work together to make this earth healthier for us all!  Thanks for coming by!

SlogBite is a new directory of blogs and sites that will be launching in March 2009. They are currently accepting applications to list blogs now – I have listed this blog in several different categories since I post about various issues.  You can go to http://www.slogbite.com/entry-form to enter your blog into the directory. If you do, I would love it if you mentioned you found out about SlogBite through Diane Clancy’s Art, http://dianeclancy.com/blog.

On the sidebar you can find a widget with a direct link to SlogBite .. also it shows which categories I am currently listed in. It is a ways down … so keep going to find it … it is purple in the middle.

I would love to hear from you how you are dealing with these issues. Thanks for coming by!!
