Friends Making Mandalas

Are you getting ready for Blog Action Day? I hope you will participate in some way! This painting is in honor of the earth … it looks like a formal garden to me - from above … with all the exciting paths and mysteries that the Victorian formal gardens used to have.

Bobbie at her blog gives an outstanding lesson on Making Mandalas today. And Frances has taken Bobbie’s lessons to heart and has quite a mandala exhibit here! These incredible displays of technical and artistic skill have been inspired by Sue O’Kieffe’s Sacred Circle Mandalas blog. Sue has been creating her mandalas filled with light for quite some time and has inspired many of us by the beauty of her creations!!

I’m afraid I have gone mandala-mania! Sue’s work has inspired me in this new craft and I am enjoying it immensely. There is much to be learned.

    Hi Diane,
This image does indeed look like an aerial view of an English garden. I’ve been meaning to tell you that I’ve really been enjoying these purple/green images lately. You are painting in one of my favorite palettes.
And thanks too for mention of my art and the ensuing mandala mania. I know exactly how Bobbie feels. It is a most gratifying obsession, this making of mandalas :D

    Obsession is right!
    Sue’s creations are so inspiring.
Bobbie’s simplification of the process has helped people like me to get in at the basement level - we all have to start somewhere!;-) But when we will ever stop - is anyone’s guess.
Beautiful image here again. No wonder we are all so BAD

Bobbie and Sue are making mandalas the hard way, handcrafted! I admire them both very much. Your painting is lovely and it does look like a formal garden. How did that come about? I am very fond of the color green and love to see it in any sort of work of art. It is a very earthy color, isn’t it. A Mother Earthy color.

Hi Bobbie, I think it is great you have gone Mandala-la-la!! Your directions are wonderful - thank you!

Hi Sue, I am so glad you have been enjoying these images!! It always makes such a difference to hear this!

Hi Frances, Your work is so much fun .. there is more new work over at your blog and I am enjoying it!

Hi Irene, thank you for validating that it looks like a formal garden - I make an image and then decide what it is.
