I am glad if my work is distinctive - I hope all my work - digital and traditional mediums hold together as a unit - I am too too close to know.

I would prefer to be distinctive ... but I do not strive or try to be distinctive - I paint what comes to me rather than trying to be different ... does that make any sense?

So, Rima, you really think my work is somewhat distinctive? I wonder ...

Irene, I think it is fantastic the way artists - especially on the web - are so so generous with thinking, techniques and help in general. I am glad to help any way I can to encourage your creativity ... and the rest of us are too.

Julie, as Sue says, none of us are totally original. I have heard it said that TV was invented independently in 2 places very close to each other. We are all connected and if all of us each copied the same piece, it would look different. Fact is, you put Julie totally into everything you do - including creating art.

Sue, I hear you on too many years letting others convince me of too many self-defeating things! You have an incredible gift, girl, and I am so glad you are following and nurturing this gift!

for julie:nothing is original, really. we just build on ideas and make them better. look at all the artists who do reinterpretations of the masters.

my thought on this topic is...i spent too many years letting others convince me i had no talent, skill, or ability to make a living from what i do.

It's a day to day struggle for me....just when you think you have a great idea, you open up someone's blog and Voila! There it is. I am tormented by trying to be original...

So, what do you do? Do you close your eyes and have images appear in your mind? Do you sit down with paints and paper and just start painting? Is it all an artist's secret? Where does your inspiration come from?

One thing for sure, my dear, no one does what you do! This one is quite hypnotic, I wonder why. Very nice and strong
